ClownBase

On the field, this ClanBase NationsCup has been a veritable success. It’s shown us the best Enemy Territory has to offer; upsets, excitement, nail biting finishes and superb gameplay - but it’s also thrown up the murkier side of competitive gaming.

Boom! Headshot?

It’s the perpetual question – how to improve the perfect? How to strike that balance between tactical variation, class structure and the ‘feel’ of gameplay?

It’s a difficult question, one that’s puzzled map makers and admins alike for years. Restrict this, reintroduce that, keep this, change that. An endless task of reinventing, reworking and sometimes ruining the wheel.

You know what really grinds my gears?

We're lacking columns on Crossfire at the moment and tumble weed is really getting quite annoying so I figured I'd start a new column series based on Peter Griffin's lovely segment on TV. It may not be Crossfire related all the time but its content and if you don't like that, well don't read it!

You define future!

The recent wave of "is ET dead?", "How to revive ET" or recently published "The future starts here" shows the importance of the topic featured by this column. By this step towards you, the community, we hope for some fair comments and feedback. We want to improve what we offer to you, which in the end is a service by the community for the community !

The Future Starts Here

The world is gazing down the precipice of a new era, a new future - change. There's a shift in the landscape of the laissez faire heading our way – no, I’m not talking about the incoming Obama administration or the credit crunch; but the future of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The AntiPro developers have created the opportunity for this community to once again shape the direction of their game.

Managers; Are they worth it?

In the ever growing world of multi-gaming organizations and the general expansion of the eSports market, the internet seems to have become inundated with people moving into the management side of things for numerous reasons and motives. Sure, intentions can be good and for most of the time, they contribute heavily in some way into helping players get to LAN destinations in relative comfort and safety but really, when it comes down to it, are they really worth it?

Warbell for competition?

I suppose most of you know the map Warbell designed by German mapper McNite from UBC Clan. The map itself is loved by a huge part of the public community today, however the map never really made it into competition play. Before Warbell got released to the public McNite worked close together with Adlernest Designer Dersaidin from Australia to make it competition ready.

Crossfire Movie Awards '08

Welcome to the CMA’s! A veritable who’s who of gaming glamaratzi glide their way up the red carpet eager with anticipation as the final votes are tallied. It’s been another exciting year in the world of frag movies, we’ve had sky breakers, bird keepers and speed limiters. Winghaven dusted off the panzefaust, seec took us to the extreme and violence was in the air. Just who is this years winner of the first inaugural Crossfire Movie Award?

The Criteria

So ... who cheats?!

Crossfire events have become somewhat of a proving ground for ET players who's online performances have raised questions over the legitimacy of their supposed skill. With current anti-cheat being so poor and the surprise bust of team overload, the community has every right to be sceptical. In the current climate you can never be too sure if a new star player is naturally gifted or yet another netcoders customer.

Show me that you care

The Crossfire Challenge 5 was the last international Call of Duty 4 LAN to be announced, right now the tunnel is dark and the future is bleak for the game. However CoD4 needs to take a leaf out of ET's books if it wants to survive until its sequel at the end of the year.
