IMHO there is no good solution for Capello right now. None of the keepers is capable of providing performances which will allow England to make it to quarterfinals and further. Ronney & co can play great, but still vs really good teams they'd need a great goalkeeper which neither of keepers taken to RSA nor those who weren't are.

Still, Brazil goalkeepers aren't known of making such ridicolous mistakes like english goalkeepers. Sure, they weren't the best, but decent enough.

Loads of goalkeepers make these sort of mistakes, they happen to everyone. You weren't on about mistakes to start with you were on about the quality of the keeper.

One mistake doesn't make you a bad keeper, it's how you respond to it because goalkeeping is all about confidence and your mentality.

In World Cup one mistake can make a HUGE difference imho. Especially in playoffs. English goalkeepers are just able to do such ridicolous mistakes which deny the work of whole team. Versus good teams those mistakes are crucial. I was on about those mistakes especially, not whole bunch of goalkeeping attributes to be precise.

Joe Hart is quality and should be starting. He's inexperienced, but ridiculously confident and calm under pressure. He had a great season and deserves a chance to prove he can cut it at this level. It's not as if Algeria are a huge goal threat as their two forwards aren't particularly tall, nor are they pacey.

Perfect game to give him a go yet it seems like Capello will pick James who is just as prone to making mistakes as Green :(

Hopefully Heskey won't be starting either and Gerrard will play just behind Rooney with Barry in the holding role now he's fit again.

Will be interesting to see if ze Germany Germans can continue their good start! If Ozil plays like he did against the Aussies it'll be a walk in the park for 'em.

problem with our group really, because none of our opponents are huge goal threats keepers nerves will get a bit rumbled - Green had two saves to make all night against USA, for West Ham that would be the opening 5mins, he isnt use to doing nothing - neither is Calamity James (nick name says enough) and Hart, but out of all of them Hart seems to have the best history of not making any mistakes... shame he didnt get a chance last year because of that I cant see him getting a chance during the WC.

Problem with English players is that they dont play abroad, you can pretty much name on your hand the players that have gone abroad in the last 10 years - we also have the most lucrative, attractive and some say most competitive league in the world which attracts foreigners to our league (some of which are fantastic players, no doubt).

This makes it harder for youngsters to break through unless extremely talented which is generally NEVER done with GK anywhere in the top leagues - Casillas is the only keeper who managed that playing for Real since he was 17 (main issue with GK is you wouldnt normally bring them on for the last 10mins like you could with a young winger or striker etc)

England have a load of top keepers, at least 2 of which werent even considered (imo Hart & Foster are our top2)
