Dell UltraSharp U2311H

I just bought this online, and it should arrive this Tuesday.

I wanted a screen with IPS panel, since i am tired of my TN panel. IPS gives better colors and viewing angle for example.

Anyone got experience with this screen in ET, or other games? I have seen a lot of reviews and there are mixed opinions.

Got the U2410, I use 'Game Mode' for ET..Seems just fine to me..

What exactly were you wondering about?
mostly the ghosting, since it has barely input lag.

Do you like it? Since you have higher quality H-IPS panel, and yours is width gamut. Did you also calibrate it? The U2311H is normal gamut, yours is also in a bit different price range. This one was 220 euro in a webshop here.

Well, I am surely no expert; I bought the U2410 after having a shitty 17inch half dead screen with an odd purple shade.

I love it though, I find the colors to be many levels above simple TN screens and enjoy viewing 1080p movies. I haven't noticed any ghosting nor in movies or in ET ('Game Mode' for ET). When playing ET in sRGB or any other mode apart from 'Game' I do notice ghosting though.

The viewing angle, as you said, is great and gives me quite the freedom to watch movies and shows from all around my apartment.

I did fiddle around with the brightness and contrast whilst using online calibration websites/Win7 thingie, I did not use any fancy methods though, if that's what you were asking.

About the difference between 120hz and 60hz (which is what I have); I cannot tell you, as I have never played with a 120hz screen before.

Thanks for your answer, i hope i will have the same experience like you.

I am using 60Hz screen now, so i am not bothered by that. You can't have everything, but for me the colors are the most important now, since i mainly watch series, movies and work on it. But i am happy it will be good enough for some gaming once a while.

I am also not planning on using fancy methods for calibrating, from the reviews this screen is already pretty good without any calibration and there are a lot of settings i can find on the internet to try out.

just to give you an update i have the screen now and i am loving it.
Also did play some ET and didn't notice ghosting. And the colors, wow they are nice compared to a random TN monitor.

Do you have any trouble over long periods of time? mainly while browsing or using Office?

And did you calibrate it in any way? :p
Parent
No, i didn't calibrate it yet. The U2311H is pretty good calibrated out of the box i tried some settings and it's fine for me.

But it's a joy comparing to a TN panel. I never want to go back again.

I didn't encounter any problems yet. But what do you mean about problems over long periods of time?

Eye stress mainly
Parent
oh yea, no i didn't notice that much, i noticed i needed to get used to the bright colors and the scharpness etc. But after 2 days now it's fine.

show them your new mouse man!111
your last monitor was the BenQ G2220HD 21.5".. interesting, because that's what I also had, but! I went for the 120 Hz Acer HD245HQ and it's awesome (apart from a bit backlightbleeding at the bottom while watching movies)
But that one is TN panel, you can't compare that to a IPS panel, because the IPS panel is superior in anyway possible. Except speed.

I bet if you would buy an IPS panel instead of that one, you would have the same awesome feeling again.
Parent
No, absolutely not comparable. I am unable to enjoy ET without 120 Hz. Also, I had a calibrated CRT so I know what I'm saying. The Acer which is in front of me is also calibrated. The perfect solution would be an IPS/PVA panel with 120 Hz, but something like that doesn't exist, because its price would be staggering.
Parent
yea, that would be awesome.
But like i said before, you can't have it all, too bad.

But it will come in the future.
