TVs with inet replacing pcs & these things replacing laptops / phones. The majority of people just want to post inane updates on facebook.
At risk of sounding like a conspiracy nut apple are at the forefront of moneytising the internet. It's already happened with the murdoch ipad paper - that's the future, subscriptions to access content on restricted handsets. The internet won't be free for much longer - I give it 5 years.
its not like anything will change, the people who use pcs and laptops merely for updating Facebook will swap. But the gaming community will not change. + I don't understand how the internet can become a commodity.
It already is - sure people without the knowledge to jailbreak don't see it but most either don't have the knowledge or are scared of it permanently damanging the system and as such pay to download apps. Then when you consider the prevelance of itunes on these locked platforms there's massive scope for it. Especially if they successfully clamp out things like torrenting.
Sure there'll be the smaller free sites but increasingly big business is coming in & monetising. For example ipads offer great scope for buying & downloading tv series & movies - then when the technology is there to easily combine with your tv (as the ps3 / xbox360 currently do) they will be fantastic pieces of kit for functionality - but they won't be free.
I have to give it up to Apple, its a sexy device, well built and has pretty much anything you could expect from current gen tablets. Problem for me is, I don't have a need for a tablet, I need a real laptop, if anything at all.
FaceTime. Smart Covers. 10-hour battery.
why apple got 90% of US market? europeans are not dumb
