never got any problems like this, on my w7 system i have the 266.58 driver should be the actual drivers for nvidia cards and never got any problems with it
i setted up to fix it but when ET loaded automatically the driver resize it changing aspect ratio. Now with 32 bit i can play with r_mode -1 and native prospective otherwise it comes again in screen resize with border black. I cant understand what the fuck is going on
Strange....but ok i can go with that.....anyway what pc do you have? (hope its not a laptop,, hope the processor ( s eventually ...yes? :D ) are up to what win7 requires..? also decent videocard , enough RAM ?......all this assuming that you dont have software "conflicts" of any kind , decent net, decent monitor....? if you have a good pc( i mean a good configuration , not the best parts put together but rather the best working configuration - dont know if i said it right ) than config and settings arent so important ( you can easily get 125 FPS on any map ).....
Then its your "hardware" thats pulling you down.....i also have a laptop with win7 but it sux at gaming.....even at old games that dont require so many resources......dont understand me wrong , its ok to have a laptop, it works ok on windows 7, it may even start some games which are more demanding than ET but you cant play competitive ET on a laptop ( you can play ET of course, but when youll play against a desktop it will always have the upper hand ......).......considering all this, hope you have enough space on your drives for the OS , dont install ET on the same drive with OS, dont run many aplications ( especially those that use net), dont mess around with BIOS.....and hope for the best......
Anyway laptops are much cooler than ET, why bother with all this?I have quitted this @#^&$# game long time ago and im not in mood to get back again......:DDDDD
Well.....try to install it somewhere else or see that on main directory you have at least 20% free space....still dont look for high performance on laptop.....
i'm just trying to play ET without getting resizing screen... i play with full resolution but the game is centered with blacks spaces and i cant get why cus i setted on nVidia control panel to use Nvidia scaling to set full screen in the case the resolution is less then normal one... i'm pissed off
Ok.....in this case try using the recommended resolution ( be carefull at the screen refresh also ); sometimes monitors can handle higher resolutions than the videocard can ( your case i think ) ; most of the time videocards are "stronger" than monitors ( most desktops but on laptops it may be different)......it might be tricky in your case it could not work ; if it doesnt try EVEREST ( its a program that tells you all about your pc , your interest is mostly in videocard and monitor supported resolutions - youll find 2 tables with the resolutions- compare them and try those that apear on both sides.....dont ignore the refresh rate,when you experiment with resolutions also try different supported monitor refresh rates.....).....its all about testing , at the end see what resolution fits better to your needs ( remember that you might not find perfection but rather perfect compromise)......
i knew it's about resolution, seems that nVidia card can handle more resolution/refresh then screen ...tested also wih higher refresh and i can handle more then 60 Hz i setted another lower resolution like 1024*768 it's the normal resolution that appear when i open a game but still doenst work. Screen resizing more and more -.-
In this case ......(as i said before ) check the common resolutions suported by both( videocard and monitor ) and very important .....the refreh rate - i mean if they both support the same resolution- lets say 1024*768, mine supports 1280*1024- but not on the same refreh rate youll have a problem ....and not only in resizing but in lag and other nasty stuff........thats why CRT will always be a better choice than LCD at gaming.....moreover 60 hz is overkill for the eyes and also low performance- try a resolution with at least 75-85 Hz- consider also using display drivers ( i used some vista driver for sound quality).....
i've fused the 2 monitor (VGA + LCD) on windows and got a single resolution, on nVidia control panel i've setted that resolution and put "do not scale" now i got one resolution for both, on ET r_mode -1 and that resolution.
About refresh i tried to set atleast a 85hz as a normal CRT has but cant put it -.-
now i got good fps except when i have arty in the map and on RADAR i got 50 fps mmmm this is weird
Radar used to be pretty demanding regarding FPS when i started playin ET....that was a long time ago , but afterwards better cpus and videocards got better and most of all...affordable for me so there was no problem for me( with FPS )- check that refresh rate again- you must aim for the highest stable value that your monitor ( and videocard) can reach, theres no point in setting it to 85 or 125 if your monitor( or videocard) cant handle that( it will automatically set the refresh to default ).......50 FPS is crap , remember in my "starting " days when i used to have a *&%@ pc i couldnt even get 43 FPS stable.........the only thing that helped on radar was to lower my resolution, that added some improvement ( used to play with r mode 3 on that map :P )
Had the same issues with ET. Opengl something. I just rewinded the update and everything was fine.
