Weird Controls (2)

crumbs thread brought an idea to my mind:

Would it be good to learn shooter games with firing on keyboard instead mouse1 ?

I think you could be more accurate with this setting cuz the mouse hand is only fixed on tracking.

Any1 here who dont have +attack on mouse1 ?

sry for engrish skillz ;)

hahah plz, like he's australian and is living in austria :D:D

Only reason I use mouse2 for shooting is because mouse1 is broken

And no, if you got a piece of shit wireless keyboard that loses it's connection once in a while
You can have enough good aim in ET without that kind of setup
this is just an idea about how it would work when you learn it from the beginning

For hardcore players "good enough" is synonomous to "perfect".

interessant
I'm using a gamepad
you have a good point there, but dno if the payoff (better mousetracking) would be that high thought,

also you lose 1 finger (on the left hand if you are right handed) on your keyboard for shooting, instead of saving that one while you use your right hand to press mouse1

which means if you would move with 3 fingers (i do) & 1 for shooting you got 1 left for other stuff like crouching, sprinting, activating doors, selfkilling whereas you would have 2 left if you would shoot with your mouse1

so that could become more trickier (to crouch, sprint, etc..)
what about firing on space (thumb) and jumping on mouse2 ?
Parent
with my moving keys that would be rly hard i think
Parent
WASD
thumb on space
little finger for crouch

?

qsdz

crouch = shift

just tried it at rtcw, doesnt work for me mate :p
Parent
then it would work excatly my cod4 config did : ]
Parent
and was it good for you?
Parent
as i used normal settings in et , it was quite weird for the first time but it was good after some hours :)
Parent
how about playing et with a joystick?
could be kwl
Ever tried BO on the xbox (so with a joystick) ? Simply unplayable :D
Parent
try a trackball mouse
there was a theory in the early days of quake that this was better and a few people probably still do it, but personally i don't think it holds any benefits
do you have a related link?
Parent
do you have a time machine ? :D

if you really want to work out how much the pressure of a mouse click affects your cursor movement you could do that with science but frankly it's a bit arrogant to suggest your aim is pixel perfect enough to be affected by this, especially for consistent tracking based aiming in et as opposed to twitch rail shots or something

Fire is on spacebar.

I have been doing it since I first started playing fps games, kinda stuck with me I guess.
and this is working good for you?
