done right now.
However, Firefox was slow to start up and the 4th version had some odd text rendering problems, every font was kinda blurry and annoying to read, so I'm using Chrome.
E: Other Firefox addons I liked to use but haven't heard (then again, I haven't searched very thoroughly) of replacements:
- BetterPrivacy, allows you to clear "flash cookies" and manage all other sorts of cached files more comfortably
- ScrapBook or something of the sort that allowed you to save pictures of webpages as PNG images, was useful for saving up forum threads etc. without all the HTML clutter and for easy reposting
- DownloadHelper (for this I'm sure there's a repalcement but I haven't really bothered to look for it), allowed you to save any flash stream video onto your HD from sites like Youtube, Own3d and all those porn stream sites with a couple of clicks. Beats looking for the .flv in the cache.
Also there was no proper equivalent for NoScript other than disabling javascript entirely last time I checked, and that wouldn't block Flash and other "bad" content anyways. On top of that it didn't render some CSS elements properly (or at least not in the same way the other browsers did).
I used to use Opera full time in 2005 or so, and at the time it was great, if not the best. After that it has simply fallen behind in the great browser marathon, not having as good addons as the others. Sure it makes up for it with out-of-the-box functionality, but seeing that it's not as good as the competition has via addons it hardly makes any difference.
