Player Visability

Hey guys

So, im fiddling around with a new config, and i like it alot, only problem is, i think it would be alot better if you could see the players a bit better. Don't get me wrong, you can see them, but im wondering if theres any commands i can tweak slightly to make it that little bit better.

Just drop any possible commands here and ill give them a try :)

ET models aren't going to get brighter, even with some of the really dark cfgs I've seen where the models are like silver because they are so bright in certain parts (you had one like this when we were playing in versatile :P) you can't make the models brighter. They will just be super dark / just the same as standard if you look at them from a certain angle etc, so just put up with it we all have to do the same :P
Well obviously you cant change the models, but the background / graphics of the map have a difference :p

radar isnt the best map to show visablity really.... as most decent configs you can see easily.

r_ambientscale
r_directscale or directedscale
Most competition configs have r_ambientScale locked to a low value and that is the only way to make player models brighter (if you have a darker config).

You can test that watching a demo, set r_ambientScale "3" and r_mapoverbrightbits "1", r_gamma "1.5" and you will see why they locked it.

r_mapoverbrightbits 0 ,but sucks tbh
there those dark configs where models will be bright when there is some "light" on the map. I can't really play with that.. at some part of the map u simply won't see shit. And if you use a bright crosshair , you won't see it anymore when you are on the model, if you use a dark one you won't see it anywhere else on the map :S

Try modus config or mine.. or maybe sheep's config.
I think at some part you can make the map textures less detailed than the models and therefore see the models better. Also use cg_shadows 1 which makes a nice black spot under each model + the shadow is bigger than the model (say hello to anyone who is leaning). There are 2-4 commands which affect the shadow.. I tested around with it for some time and i think i got the best possible settings for the shadows.
