Photoshop question #1234567

Hello Crossies!

This is work thingi and I came first time across this kinda of problem.

Client send me a psd layout of the webpage, but I notice that the file is over 50mb.

I open the file in Photoshop and notice that there are layers and folders called "home, about, example, etc" so basicly client put all pages on one psd file. How am I supposed to see other pages and not just the "home" page? I know I can hide other layers and folders, but some layers are named just "layer 45" and it is somehow confusing. Is there a better way to see other layout of other pages?

Thank you in advance.

When creating such a complex file with lots of parts, you should rename every single part and change its backgroundcolor to make it more visible. Next time put some parts which belong together into one folder, so it isnt that hard to find the needed layer.

Only thing you can do now is to click on the "hide" button to find out which layer belongs to which part on the file. Then rename it and change maybe the layercolor.

I havnt worked a lot with renaming etc, so i cant tell you if there is an other way to do it :(
Thank you for you reply. I thought that there might be some function in photoshop that I'm not aware of. Well better start doing the job :D

you could also use "crtl + mouseclick" on the layer. this will show you exactly which part is used on the layer

hf figuring out :D
often designers send me psds with different versions of a page in one psd but not usually a whole site (maybe because the sites i develop have more than 10,500 files and are 3GB+ with 100,000+ page views a day but still..) its common to have a psd that is over 50mb for a single page.

the psd should display properly when you toggle on and off the different folders or the designer didn't do his job properly. The designer should try and give layer more descriptive names but there are many different ways to drill down to the correct layer, toggling on and off layer/folder ofc, clicking into text with the text tool, ctrl + right click with move tool on the canvas, ctrl + left click on layer tiles etc etc). you can also rename the layers yourself to make it less confusing and organise things into folders yourself just make sure you snc the changes with the designer or use a shared folder!
it sux when you put effort in a comment and dont get any thanks :(
