So over the last few years it became more apparent that the ET community is slowly dieing off, maybe even the whole online FPS genre as we know it. The recent downfall of TZAC felt like the last straw that was keeping the community somewhat active, but now that there is no AC left , I don't think it is possible for the game to survive.
So my fellow Crossfireians,
~weed god over and out
So my fellow Crossfireians,
- Do you think there will be another WORKING anticheat in the future?
- Would an alternative AC bring back activity in ET? (nig that shit rhymed)
- Is the whole multiplayer FPS genre doomed (CS:GO kinda failed and QL is dead. I don't count the COD franchise since it is what League of Legends is to moba games)?
- Do YOU actually still play ET? If not why have you stopped playing it and when?
- Is dualinity actually black?
~weed god over and out
-nope
-FUCK NO
-yes and alot more than i used to since im just killing time in the UAE atm, fuck this country

- Same as above, ET is just behind new games and new gamers prefer playing something with modern graphics and bigger player bases(if you don't know the magic of ET, why would you join a 200+- people community when there are communities of millions)
- FPS genre isn't doomed, there are good titles out there. Market has simply shifted from strong games to making money. I think, and hope, at some point the consumer will 'boycot' developers when they are just releasing the same thing for a bigger pricetag. Force developers into doing something new and different(maybe pickup an old concept that worked) instead of consuming only because of 'new year=new game' mentality.
- I still play ET actively, had my breaks. Most of the breaks I had were due to regular life things, only time I really felt like dropping the game at all was after Antwerp eSports Festival when ET has a massive activity drop in the ladders and competition. Found back my fun in the game with some people and still enjoy it =)
- He is actually white, I've had the pleasure of having a glass of whiskey with him a while back.

I told you, I knew it all the time but you wouldn't listen. TZ-AC since the very beginning was a FAKE anti-cheat program set to bring our beloved game Enemy Territory down. You may ask how do I come to those accusation? We'll have to take a few steps back in time to be able to understand the whole extent of the project that should become known as TZ-AC.
In 1934, shortly after Hitler became Führer of the German Reich, he founded the Organisation für Geschichtserhalt des Deutschen Reiches [OGDR] (Organization for history preservation of the German Reich). Its goal was to keep the history of the German Reich as accurate as possible throughout the thought to be 1000 year Reich. We all know that that plan didn't work out so well in the end.
By 1944 when the end of the German Reich was foreseeable, two members of the OGDR fled Germany and went to Croatia. One was named Hermann Müller and the other was known as Hans Hoppenheim. Of course these two did not want to be prosecuted by the Americans so they changed their names. Hermann became Vladimir Zubcic and Hans became Vitali Zubcic, they passed themselves off as brothers that were held prisoners of war in Germany but were able to flee the concentration camp.
Hans and Hermann both kept a low profile for the next few years but never forgot the mission Hitler had given them. In Croatia no one knew about their true identity so they went on to lead a normal life in their new homeland. Both of them got married and their wifes gave birth to 4 kids in total, their names are Tomiszlav Zubcic, Peaches Zubcic, Stuart Zubcic and Martin Zubcic. Peaches was sent to America shortly after birth because she had a rare speaking disorder which could only be treated oversees.
In 1978 Hans and Hermann died in a car crash. But their mission was not lost, in their testament, they revealed their true identity and their mission. As Stuart , Martin and Tomiszlav loved their Dads they set out to continue the mission, peaches was not informed because she was still in treatment for her disorder.
In 1988 Stuart set out to study History in England, but soon he was disgusted by the false facts that were taught in English universities so he went on to play the new invented videogames day in and day out. In the same year Martin went to Germany to study economics. He got his degree in 1990 and founded a company for personal computers called Speedlink. Tomiszlav stayed in Croatia to study programing. He became known as one of the first virus coders in the still young computer industry.
In 1992 Stuart purchased Wolfenstein3D a three dimensional shooter set in world war II. Stuart did not even finish the intro of the game when he realized that this game was the worst report of German history ever. Outraged he called his siblings. They promised themselves to bring down the company that released this unbelievable inaccurate record of the 3rd Reich. peaches was not informed because she was still in treatment for her disorder.
When in 1995 Enemy Territory was released they knew that their time has come. Tomiszlav first tried to code cheats for the game to destroy the fun the people had in the multiplayer videogame. Stuart created a website called crossfire.nu to infiltrate the community from within. Martins business was running very good at the time so he had a lot of money to spent, so he bribed the current anticheat for ET called Punkbuster to not detect Tomiszlavs cheats.
As it became apparent in 2009 that punkbuster was inefficient, people abandoned the anticheat and looked for a alternative. This was when Martin stepped into the spotlight. He announced that his company Speedlink would sponsor a new anticheat for Enemy Territory called SL-AC. Since no one knew the connection between Martin and Tomiszlav, Martin had no problem letting him code the anticheat. What no one knew at the time was that Tomiszlav rigged the program with a code that would make the computer of every user of the anticheat implode.
The timer in the code was set to 02.11.2013, the date the OGDR was founded in 1934.
But something unexpected happened in 2011, Martin got cancer and shortly died after. The new lead of his company decided that the anticheat was not profitable, so they stopped funding it. That was when peaches stepped on the plan after she finally got out of treatment for her speaking disorder. But the doctors were not able to fix it she sued the hospital and got a lot of money.
With that money she now funded the anitcheat renamed to TZAC. This is when I got curious, why would someone unknown to the community suddenly spent so much money on something that is unprofitable. As a investigator of justice I got on a plane to Croatia to find Tomiszlav. After a half year I finally captured him. In the interrogation he told me everything I am telling you now. That also explains why he suddenly disappeared in 2012.
There's only one thing you people can do now, throw your computers away and pray that the code of the anticheat didn't find its way onto your toaster.
TL;DR: ohurcool isn't as cool as his name says he is
- Do not think it would have any noticable impact atleast. (nigga that didnt rhyme :()
- Hopefully not, i dont like cod or bf style fps too much...
- Mostly publics, might try to find a team for fall cup or oc. Stopped competitive gaming in ET after Cloud9 fell apart (<3, no no that lol or dota team or whatever it was). Havent really had time beside work and school.
- Dunno, might or might not be

2. I'm 100% sure it would contribute.
3. I don't think so, its really all up to the companies with money to choose what will be the successful genre.
4. I do, just pubbing for fun. Not really playing ETpro anymore tho.
5. Yes
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Dunno.
No need to be overly dramatic here. ET isn't dead yet, and first-person shooters definitely aren't "doomed". QL is still quite active and will always be a far better and more skilled game than LoL or any of those other silly games.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbgfM6ESLEQ
But ye, in game like ET, you need different kind of skill. In ET its prolly possible to carry more with skill, than it is in LoL. But still LoL needs skill imo.
- No
- Competitive FPS games have been going downhill for a long time and I don't see anything changing that. so yes.
- No, quit 2 years ago. Cheaters and shitters was all that was left back then. Can't imagine how bad it has become now.
- dunno
- All we need is GoodguyGary aka Killerboy
- Active GoodguyGary aka Killerboy
- Yes, large numbers of FPS gamers have switched games and only play FPS titles casually.
- Sometimes connect to BiO etc. but not since the recent TZAC problems. Have stopped playing due to Australian ET scene 100% dying some months ago (well there is still an etpub scene of around 20 players).
Maybe competitive side of enemy territory is a bit smaller than before and "skill level" is dropping but that's mainly because people are used to watch mAus, butchji and other oldschoolers playing and doing things other people cant do. ET community has to face the fact that they are not playing actively anymore and give "newschoolers" a chance to to show their skills. YES. EVEN IF THEIR SKILLS ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE NAMES I MENTIONED BEFORE. And Look at all the jaymod and nq servers. These servers are full like 24/7.
Cheating is always a problem and not only in ET. In almost every FPS game u can see wallhacks and aimbots being used. Its nothing new. Surely people are saying the same stuff about their game and thinking "where are the good old times where there was no cheating, good pubs etc etc" Cheats have been a part of every video game from the beginning and will be there till the end.
This discussion isn't keeping the game "alive" Playing keeps the game alive.
THANK JOU, BOMBS AWAY ITS THURSDAY MORNING LIVE FROM FINLAND OVER AND OUT.
ps. there might be ALOT of typos and bad english up there :D
2. I highly doubt so
3. Hopefully not, but games that required the most skill sets are far past their prime (RTCW/ET, quake franchise)
4. No, not really - there is simply nothing to play for and most of the times, noone to play with. And if by any chance there is a team that actually wants to prac on regular basis, it's extremely hard to get decent enemies. I do play mixes from time to time (apart from occasional offi with Decerto), but when we gather we have troubles getting suitable oppo (we either end up with someone who leaves after 1st map or find someone who forces us to make it official or won't play at all...)
2. Probably at least for most of players, but dobut it would show as "massive inrease"
3. Dobut it's doomed, just that players are becoming shit and when they realize they will spend months to get even on low+ level, they mostly decide to drop those kind of games and start with something easier.
4. Playing here and there, mostly with ppl i know and enjoy playing with.
5. Always here
2 - Why would it? Since there have been LANs people don't even always believe how 'clean players' do it, even after witnessing it all from up close. Cheating players probably isn't the whole reason most of the time for a quitter to keep off the game, but the lack of development of the actual game.
3 - I can't tell, but probably not. I do believe your comparison (CoD == LoL) is unfair, because it's not only completely different games, CoD is (heavily) promoted whenever a change is made to the gameplay, reminding anyone who likes the series to run to the store and grab a new copy and enjoy new modes. And it's generally playable for anyone from young kids who do it for the lulz to people who invest loads of hours in whatever skill is required to play this, on whatever platform as well.
4 - No, I think the last time was 2 years ago in Enschede to help some friends out, which got me a sweet doormat. I lost most of my competitive feeling as I fled over to World of Warcraft, and I find it hard to enjoy ET as it is, partly because of the lack of social awareness of a lot of players. Collective hatred towards players for having said something or having beaten someone in a match definitely sucks. I haven't been the nicest player either to play with or against back in my teens, but some people really took it too far, and I believe a simple reminder of us all just being simple people playing a game wouldn't be a waste of time.
5 - Probably yeah
Like LoL is not heavily promoted to the players, new champions/skins. and trust me LoL is probably the easiest moba game out there at the moment and a lot of players are in their younger teens. In CoD can buy more weapons and other swag the longer you play (Levels iirc), same concept in League you get rewarded no matter how shitty you play as long you play, of course you get the rewards faster if you're good, but still the motivation to keep playing is to unlock more Champions/Weapons.
