CG EU ET: Read the FAQ!
Many teams/players keep asking the same questions and having trouble with the same issues, so here is a reminder that there is a fairly comprehensive FAQ on the CG website. Since I am a nice guy, I will also highlight a few of the most important things to hopefully provide some help for everyone as well as explain some of the features that CyberGamer EU offers. Here we go:
What is that bar at the bottom of the website?
It's called the Smart Bar. There are number of options available to you there, each providing quick access to major parts of the website.
LF Scrim/Match - a list of all teams currently searching for an opponent
Notifications - a list of everything that is important to you - team invites, match statuses, replies to forum threads you've posted in, etc.
Mail - private messaging system; from here you can view unread messages and go to your inbox
Buddies - a list of all of your friends on CG; click a buddy's name to start an IM conversation with him
Quick Links - a list of several useful links, all teams/organizations you are in, any private forums you have access to, and more
IMs - instant messaging system
How do I create a team?
Click on "Quick Links" in the Smart Bar. Then, click "Create a new team" and fill in the information.
How do I invite players to my team?
Visit your team page, scroll down to the "Members" section, and click on "Edit Members". This will activate a pop-up in which you can enter the account name of a player and send them an invite to join your team.
How do I join a team?
If the team is "recruiting", you can visit their team page and select "Apply to Join". Then, fill out the form and click "Apply!". Another way to join a team is to be invited by the captain. You can accept an invite via "Notifications" in the Smart Bar.
How do I join a ladder?
Simple create a team and visit the ladder page. Then, click on "Join Ladder" at the top. You won't be able to challenge or be challenged until you have the required number of players in your team, however.
Why can't I join both the 3on3 and 6on6 ladders with the same team?
In CG, the system only allows you to join one ladder per team. This is because "ET" and "ET (3on3)" are two different game types. You'll have to create two teams if you want to play in both the 3on3 and 6on6 ladders. In the "Game" drop-down menu on the "Create Team" page, select "Enemy Territory" for the 6on6 ladder and "Enemy Territory (3on3)" for the 3on3 ladder.
So I have to create a whole new team all over again just so that I can join another ladder?
No, you don't. There is an option on the "Create Team" page to "clone" one of your current teams instead of creating a completely new one. This will copy most of the details from the selected team and attempt to invite all of the members.
Is there any way I can have both of my teams on the same page?
Yes. You not only have the option to create a team but also to create an organization. Click on "Quick Links" in the Smart Bar, select "Create an organisation", and fill in the information. Then, you can invite teams to join your organization and have everything shown on one page. You'll even be given your own private forums on CG!
Where can I view the rules for each ladder?
Simply visit the ladder page and click on the "Rules" tab. Make sure you read them carefully!
How do I challenge another team?
To challenge another team, visit the ladder page. Then, either click on "Challenge" under "Status" next to their team name, or visit their profile and click on "Challenge" at the top. Follow the instructions on the challenge page.
First, select a map from the dropdown menu. Then, choose at least two dates/times to challenge for. This seems to be where many players are having trouble. The TURBO times are those times that you can select in order to play the match within the next few hours. The times listed are spaced 15 minutes apart. If you want to play at one of the TURBO times, then you must also select a time in the next section for another day as well. Once you have done this, the "Send Challenge!" button will appear. Click it to complete the challenge.
Note: It will always be possible to select the correct date/time for your match. We will no longer be opening matches on GamesTV with times that are way too far away from the actual match time.
How do I accept a challenge?
Click on "Notifications" in the Smart Bar and find the challenge that you're looking for. Click on the notification to visit the match page. Once there, you'll be given a drop-down menu with a list of dates/times to choose from. Simply select a date/time, choose a map, and click on Save.
How do I cancel a match?
If your challenge has not yet been accepted, you can cancel it by visiting the match page and clicking the relevant link at the top.
How do I enter scores?
Simply visit the match page and scroll down to the "Post-Match Results" section. Fill in the scores and click on "Submit".
If teams enter different scores, the match will automatically be disputed. Also, if one team enters the scores and the other team does not, the system will automatically confirm the result after a small period of time.
How do I dispute a match?
If you'd like to dispute a match for any reason, simply visit the match page and scroll down to the "Post-Match Results" section. Check the box next to "Dispute?" and enter a reason for disputing. You do not need to enter the score.
Once the match has been disputed, you'll notice a new chat area appears. Feel free to explain your decision to dispute the match in this section.
What does that "Mark your team ready to play a match: click here!" thing do?
This can be found on the ladder page of a ladder that your team is in. If you click on "click here!", then your team will be added to the "LF Scrim/Match" tab in the Smart Bar. Other teams will then see that you are looking for an opponent and might challenge you.
The website does take some time to get used to, but it's really not that difficult to navigate and use. If anyone has any questions that haven't been answered here or in the FAQ, feel free to ask away!
CyberGamer EU: A New Home for ET
#cg.et
http://www.crossfire.nu/news/8372/cybergamer-eu-a-new-home-for-et
etpro scene being so small I think it would be a good idea to have one website with ladders, tournaments, news, active forums, ettv coverage etc.
The site's name should be something that is easy to find if you are a new player. If you search 'Enemy territory' on google, you can't find crossfire.nu on the first 2 pages.
CyberGamer offers us a working platform for running cups and ladders with active coders. A new version of the website is being developed this very moment and will be ready within the next few months. There is also an AC in development which already supports CoD4 and will work with ET too in the near future.
Don't get me wrong, CF is great. But it would be a long time before a ladder system would even be considered for the website. CG had one up and running within a week after I first spoke with them, so it was a pretty easy decision.
And I don't really understand the point of your last two sentences. If you search "Call of Duty 2" on Google, you won't find Esports Heaven. If you search "Quake Live", you won't find ESReality...
CyberGamer is fine. We already have ladders up and running with cups on the way.
