Videos embedded into powerpoint?

Is it possible embedd a video into powerpoint? If so how the heck do you do it.

at least I have seen videos embedded in powerpoint in our school lectures, but no idea how to do it

you delete power point and use a movie maker instead? with all the nice effects etc.
