THE DIFFRENCE IS DX10 !!!
i think 8500gt
if you dont have any clue about graphics, rather dont say anything because 8500GT is weaker than his current card
Parent
Just type in google ''8500GT vs 7600GT'' and you will see that 9/10 people will say that the 7600GT is better.
yea I saw thanks but I still want to buy something better than 7600gt
Parent
hey, the 9600gt came out a few moments ago, it's better than the hd3850 and ATI gave their hd3870 & 3850 cards a price-cut. maybe you'll be able to get one for cheaper now.
Parent
k thx for the heads up XD
Parent
Cheapest 8800 GT you can find. You should be able to get one slightly under 200e.

Tomshardware VGA Charts 2007
Then get a Accelero S1 to cool it, it's dirt cheap for the cooling performance.
Parent
The stock cooler works. :}
Parent
it doesn't actually, it's noisy as fuck and everyone knew it was gonna fail since it is singe-slot, gets like 90c under load while running loud. it doesn't matter though cause the 8800gt is dirt cheap for the performance it gives and the ac s1 is really cheap also but is almost the best cooler for 8800gt despite it being passive (thus making no sound over the stock cooler's turbine engine)
Parent
Sparkle 8800GT with passive heatsink + 1 120mm cooller=awesomewin, never goes above 54c
Parent
120mm fan on the card? it isn't too passive then :D
Parent
not on card : ) but from side where cdroms are, airflow to RAM/CPU and VGA hs
Parent
no fan blowing out? your case has positive pressure then, it's better to have negative pressure (like 1x120mm fan blowing out + PSU blowing out and all of the gaps / holes for the case covered) for passive cooling i guess, negative pressure makes the case take in air from every open slot possible to neutralize the pressure, so you can just open one cover below your graphics card. :p (you gotta have a cool HDD / CPU for it I guess.)
atleast thats how it works best with the s1
Parent
Stick with it until the prices come down or save more for a 8800GTX, any 'upgrade' in between isn't rly worth it.
it costs like 1200$
so I need to save 1000$ more
Parent
i just got the 768mb version for less than $400, the 512 will be cheaper.. plus prices are falling quite rapidly
Parent
I found this cards:

8800GTX 768MB GDDRIII, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI-E
Price: $1066

MSI 8800GTX 768MB PCI-E
Price: $641
Parent
Look at the VGA charts above. The overall speed difference between 8800 GT G92 and 8800 GTX is about 5% (although 8800 GT is overclocked); the price difference, however, is significant.

I'd say forget the GTX and get a GT. You can find GTs in every store, GTXs might be hard to come by.
Parent
lol? you will get the 8800gt/gts for 300$. no need for gtx
Parent
Is this one ok?

8600GT 256MB GDDR3, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI-E
Price: $180

8600GT 256MB GDDR3, Silent-Pipe II, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI-E
Price: $175

or I should find one with 512MB
Parent
...

just look chart above to see what will you gain for 180$
Parent
the thing is that I know nothing about it so the chart doesn't really helps me :{
Parent
so you cant read numbers?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102715
just get this OR the 8800gt if you want more
Parent
so the 8800gt is better?.. what is better?
Parent
the 8800gt is better than the hd3850, but it is more expensive. The hd3850 has amazing performance for its price, just like the 8800gt. but hd3850 is a midrange ~160$ card, while 8800gt is a highend 250$ card
if you dont want to spend the money that the 8800gt costs, the next option is the HD3850.
Parent
harder, better, faster, stronger.
8600 is midrange (lower budget, lower performance. same with 6600 or 7600 eg.), 8800 highend (higher budget, higher performance). that's the way it is with nvidia graphic cards. if you want something for your money I'd suggest the 8800gts g92 512mb. ~$300 or a 8800gt.
Parent
the thing is you just won't get a g92 gts for 300$ unless you know people that sell it. Demand is high, therefor the prices aren't what they're supposed to be. Especially in countries that aren't america or whatever, he lives in isr. it's prolly gonna cost him 500$ or something.
Parent
hmm.. if he's lucky he can grab one at an ebay shop that ships to anywhere :p
Parent
no, if you're going for midrange get the ATI HD3850 512mb

8600GT = 7600GT with dx10 (wont run any dx10 games anyway cause it sucks)
Parent
really, you should read gasos comments -.-
Parent
you won't be happy with that :p
Parent
There is no 512mb GTX.
Parent
please, 8800GT is definetely best buy in that range
Parent
Why people have to say something if they don't know what they are talking about?

Just post "LOL, 1st, die of aids" or something, but don't suggest things you have no idea about.
ASUS - 8600GT/S 256MB GDDR3, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI-E - 800 nis
crab ;)
shit compared to ati hd3850 which totally decimates it and is cheaper
Parent
I got around 500-600 NIS crab mixed with lobster.
Parent
220$ = 796.84 NIS
nup
Parent
You know how much the $ is at the moment?... ;\
Parent
I still got 600 NIS! so I need a video card in $165 oops. ;<!
Parent
8800 gt ofc..just save some money..and buy it for 300 $.
u cant get it less than 300$
Parent
if it's 300$ in estonia i'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere
Parent
cheapest 8800GT 256MB u can found cost 325.787$ and its 256MB not 512
Parent
talking about Israel - he lives there...
Parent
oh

hd3850 for sure. 256mb 8800GT is pointless
Parent
buy a second one and use it in SLI mode
what do you mean? ;x
Parent
if your motherboard supports it, you can put in two 7600gt cards together and let them share the work. Will be as fast as a 7900GTX.
Parent
I dont think I have enough space for it, how can I tell?
Parent
you need 2 PCI-e x8 slots and a NVIDIA SLI chipset on the mainboard.
Parent
not neccesarily, depends on the game.
Parent
well, of course not in older games... but every recent AAA game does
Parent
Then buy 8600GT Silent 256MB GDDR3, HDTV, 2xDVI, PCI-E - 580 - 680 NIS depends of chipset
Or 8600GT 512MB GDDRII, HDTV, DVI, PCI-E - 540 NIS - its Point Of View chipset (unknow), but 512MB
U wont find anything better here ...
it has the same performance as his current card, only has dx10 added to it. seriously.
why suggest something shitty like that? just get the HD3850, costs as much as the 8600GT but is like 2x better
Parent
Coz ATI sux :[
Parent
Why so?
Well obviously, since "ATI sux" for some mysterious reason he should buy the exact card and waste 180$ for NOTHING. 8600GT = 7600GT with dx10. But you can't use dx10 cause the 8600GT doesn't have enough raw performance to run dx10 games. It's just marketing.
Parent
plx, he knows better
Parent
some people are just plain stupid...just because they see it's 8xxx they think its better than 7xxxx
Parent
ati can't keep up with nvidias highend cards, but midrange is still ok.
Parent
ATI HD3870 512mb , 180€ @ Portugal +/-
it's better to get a 8800GT instead tbh, since hd3870 kinda fails. hd3850 is perfect for midrange, 8800gt is perfect for highrange, hd3870 should be mid-high but it really isn't worth it when you can just add a couple of euros and get the 8800gt
Parent
Agree, but the diference at games is like 1/2 fps while it is way less expensive (around 40/50€ euros less)
Parent
1/2 fps ? oh no. The diffrence is bigger in very graphically intensive games and playing crysis if you have 25-30fps (i play @ that, dx9 very high settings) or you have 15-20 fps.
doesnt look like much but it really is. besides ATI totally dies under AA, which is kinda essential since ur buying a highend card..
the diffrence is definately not 40£/50£, i guess the shop you're looking at is kinda fucked then.. shouldnt be that much.
Parent
lolz 8800 is like 230€ @ Portugal? o:
Parent
around 240€.... gts i think.. not gt... but i can check later..
Parent
thats pretty nice :]
Parent
haha me iz a retard ;}
Parent
wait.. what?

180 Euros = 264.85200 U.S. dollars
Parent
dang never mind I got confused ^^ :>
Parent
8600 GTS works great here :) i can run everygame on high
in 800x600 or something?
Parent
1024x768
sarcasm
Parent
sure you can, enlighten us

yea...ok
8600 has nice reviews and fits gamers, i still prefered buying 8800 GT 1024mb with my upcoming Q6600 :>
the 8600 sucks and the 1gb 8800gt does not have any point, get the 512mb one. again marketing pulling in people that don't know how a graphicscard works
RAM doesn't make the card faster, ram needs to be in sync with the cards GPU power. If there's too little ram, it bottlenecks. Too many is pointless. 512mb is just right for 8800GT. Just read some reviews.
Parent
true. how's it with the 9600gt btw? is it a nice midrange card? can't find much reviews yet
Parent
ye it should be a hd3850 killer supposedly.
Parent
hmm 1024mb doesnt makes diffrent at all ? and for q6600 its best 512?
Parent
the 1gb version has the exact same performance as the 512mb yes
Parent
ATI RADEON x1950 Pro 512MB !!!!!!
got a funny story with it ^^ I almost had it but the store pranked me on the phone ;<
Parent
well.. i called the store before I went to buy the x1950 Pro and they said that they got a last one so I told them to keep it in the side for me and they said O.K.!
I got there in like 40 minutes and they said that they dont have it and they will in 2-3months. ;<
so I bought this fucktard 7600gt.
Parent
8800GT, or HD3870 if u prefer ati.
If you look closely you can find a decent 8800GT for that money.
Got my XFX version for under 200e.
AMD HD3850 or nVidia 8800GT if you have to spend something more.
