making an index

For my college i have to make an report, now i know there is a special way to make an nice index in microsoft word, who automatically recognises the pagenumbers, someone know where i can find that ?

In Word 2007 it's "References" tab then click "Table of Contents". In earlier versions I think it's on the "Insert" menu.

Each item you want to appear in the menu will need to be formatted using the standard header styles, i.e. Heading 1, 2, 3 etc.
