Movie Cutter?

hey,

I need to cut scenes out of a movie for an assignment, but what program is good for this?
Also need to paste them together but i guess i can do that with MovieMaker?

thx, btw these avi's that i'm making now are using xfcodec and my windows movie maker can't import the avis... any help?

Try opening them with virtualdub and decompress them ?
