waste of money
Q&A for your 2nd one, System Requirements:
Pentium® II 350MHz, AMD® K6 450 MHz or Higher
One Available PCI 2.1/2.2 Slot
128 RAM Memory or Higher
At least 55MB of Hard Disk Space
Graphic Display at 800 x 600 High Color (16 bit)
CD ROM Drive
Headphones or Amplified Speakers
Windows 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP / MCE
headsets over 10 $ = waste of money

if we are talking about gaming
8Channel Gaming Headphones means = 8 Discrete Drivers: 6 for Mid-High Frequency, 2 for Bass.
yes but with that stuff u'll hear the enemies to the other end of the map and even hear them breathing imo :P
:

sound = not obvious
etbot = obvious

:)
5.1 isnt supported by ET anyways, ET will only give you stereo sound... CS 1.6 for example will give you 5.1 surround sound.
So having a 5.1 surround card is useless unless the game itself supports 5.1 surround sound.
and i respect !

otherwise you can choose another headset than barracuda, i think its too expensive, for 80€ you can buy this: http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/audio/siberia-neckband/information

it looks pretty good !
the holes do not correspond 1on1 with the ammount of channels the soundcard can produce. Most jacks return two signals.

besides, like he said before, if you are using it for ET then 5.1 and 7.1 is useless since et is stereo (2 channels only)
depends one what you are going to use it for.
well I dont know about this headset but normally u will get some sort of special plug or even more then 1 for a 5.1 surround headset, which will be supported by almost all 5.1 surround cards.
And tbh I can't imagine a headset with 5 or 7 plugs...
The difference between 7 and 4 holes means that with 4 holes u will have 3 holes with 2 channel output and 1 with only 1 channel... with 7 you will have 7 holes with only 1 channel.
just like your mic is mono and your headset is stereo though they have the same type of hole.
For ET I have my onboard audio plugged into an amp and hooked up my headphones to that, works perfect.
if you have an onboard soundcard that can handle 5.1, just go with that. no need to buy a seperate soundcard imo

These are the things u will get with ur headphones, as u can see 1 mic plug and 3 stereo plugs + USB for power. So as long as you have these or the HD-DAI port on your soundcard they will work fine.

EDited btw
take them...sell them...buy what u like more...problem solved
edited my reply :P well if u will get all the things in the pic I posted you can hook it up just like your medusa.... So seems the problem is solved.
its a HD-DAI adapter, so the standard plug on the end of your headphone cable will be a HD-DAI aswell, you plug the adapter on that and in effect you will have the 3 stereo plugs, 1 mic plug + USB for power instead of the HD-DAI.
Some guys told me that the microphone sucks quite hard
it is back coupling in teamspeak and ventrilo but the sound should be really nice

Pros:
great design.
detachable microphone sounds great.
extremely comfortable.
5-way volume control Front,Rear,Center,Bass,Master.
nifty LEDs.

Cons:
Sub-standard sound quality.
Sub-standard fake subwoofer.
ridiculously poor frequency response. (specs say 50-20k)(closer to 120-20k)
bad harmonic distortion on rear and center channels
back coupling with the microphone
holy shit what a monster! I got my perfoheisers:( enough for me. and I also got Sound blaster x-fi soundcard!
BEYERDYNAMIC DT880

or if you prefer closed cans, DT770.
could be
but i wouldn't buy a headset if i m not sure if it works well with my soundcard
the sound is really amazing but the microphone should be shit...
the microphone is too short and secondly it really back coupling ...
and in germany it costs 85 €
if the others speak smth they ll hear it again because the microphone is under the left speaker and is back coupling
i dont have it ^^ a friend told me so!
you can buy and test and then pm me :)
microphone sux really hard, i had it, but sound rox. shame mine died after 2 weeks :S
then just go for a 7.1 imo, they dont cost much more than a 5.1 anyway.

or perhaps you should think about upgrading your pc instead of buying some uber headset ;)
barracuda...nice squad name :>
not very original to be honest.
