All shit, they only reason they caught people from nC (which is the site they talk about) is that new memory scanner afaik... and now they are removing the signatures, so back to the stone-age for PB... ditch them i say
. It is clear that many of the demonstrators are cheat-supporters willingly participating in the demonstration, but there is evidence that some innocent players had PunkBuster violations triggered during the past few days by the hackers who sent specific text patterns into the chat programs that were open during gameplay
I don't know why you are so offensive against PB. They are trying to keep the game clean by any means necessary, it's nC who had to dig up a way to fuck it up.
yup but they are stubborn. They don't admit that their detection system for specific strings has huge flaws... they prefer rejecting the fault onto netcoders & co.
They could have kept their mouths shut about it and just flooded the scene with cheats that are updated within a matter of minutes. Is that any better? By no means.
Got to admit that yes, but i don't like the way you people are practically makin' nC some sort of "heroes" here. PB has been true friend for many years and now when one big flaw is discovered, you all turn against it in hate, ready to kick it away...
Just because there's a lot of wrongdoing by nC from our pov, should that really stop us from saying "well done guys, thanks" for once, after all it might serve us in the long run (a better ac)?
PB being a true friend is pov as well. From my pov PB is an annoyance since years. They hardly ever are up to date, but always manage to be one of the best reasons to hinder gamers from playing. It's just like some of these very restrictive copy protections that only really annoy those who bought the game, while those getting the game illegal don't have any problems. It should be vice-versa, damnit!
The Quake community said goodbye to PB long time ago.
agree.
it's just funny and ridiculous how some ppl like "Invision" registered yesterday just to say "ditch pb". PB didn't do such a bad job. Ok, they made mistakes too, but what do you expect? Private cheats are not that easy to detect and if they were leaked pb did it's job, even though it could only stay detected for a limited amount of time. playing without pb just like in quake is just impossible in ET, except for EC matches maybe where ppl know and (should be able to) trust each other. And there is no decent alternative right now.
All is truth, some of players was testing this and wants to be unbanned? Well those some innocent players just got what they wanted from their own stupidity imo
they say how great their anti cheat program is and that they have detected hacks from all comercial hack websites, and that some of the ventors of one website managed to send a text string to _some_ players and make them get kicked.
they also say, that they always said that everyone who plays a multiplayer game should close all other programs while playing, and if an external program is needed (like ventrilo) the players should ensure that only trustable people have access to it.
they also write it like they didnt fail at all and that its only peanuts.
in addition, they are removing certain text patterns from their memory search and they want the admins to unban the people who triggered a violation the past days.
ignoring the fact how true their story is, i have to credit them for not repeating responsible's organization and linking to them in every possible way (in fact, not advertising them at all)
Can see their point tbh, as you can see on the nC page where panse said they wanted to know how rshook was becoming detected thats the only reason they did all this because their private hacks where being detected, im sure PB will find a way around these false detections.
I can sum it up easily.
"It's your fault not ours"
Heh :P
Yeah, now it's our fault that you ban us for random text we receive via IRC - nice excuse wankers...
they just have to make sure programs widly used by gaming people don't cause pb kicks.

Sounds like PB allright!
