How to get read of these annoying & lagging ads @ Internet Explorer?

Use firefox (or Opera).
how to do it using opera? :P
I don't know, never used Opera (just heard a lot of good things about it). I guess there's something to block them... ask decem!

Install Firefox and get Adblocks or w/e as plug-in

idd sucks, IE7 all the way (since it released)
For your own good switch to FF or Opera (performance and security != IE). FF have a bit better adblocker which you have to download with few clicks (in browser), is easy to use etc. In Opera you've got "Block content" already integrated. Only it's not that really great when we come to blocking frames...

Firefox 3 beta 4 is a lot faster than both ff2 and ie7. No plugins tho.
