Technical Help needed!

Hi I have a problem!

Yesterday I had to format, today I have put videos back on my PC that I need to edit whilst I'm away next week, however in both Vegas 6 & 8 I get an error when I load vegas, random error message like "vegas could not determine the error" when I go to drop video on the timeline it only takes the audio, not the video. I know the videos are fine I can run them in VLC but I cannot see them in vegas and its kinda hard to edit a video without being able to see the videos!

Your assistance is most welcome!

Try reinstalling the codecs.

ive not installed a single codec, what wud i need them for?

I always suggest having K-Lite or the likes on the hd.

Try downloading the xvid codec directly, maybe that helps.

you need to download codecs you twat ^_^
http://www.free-codecs.com/index.htm
download xp codec pack and FFDShow MPEG-4 from video codecs

also for hd codecs download cccp codec

seems like you're right though it is an issue specific to those videos, I can drop other videos into the timeline

i was half right ^_^
with the codecs i was right, but i didnt know what codecs you need =D

and next time plz more simple english ;0

You cant edit xvid videos in vegas, you first have to encode them lossless again.

download and install:

XviD
DivX
and if it's HD content CoreAVC

if it still won't work in Vegas (restart after installing plz) then download a prog to identify media (it lists the codecs it uses and stuff) to find out what you are missing.
