Ipod Video codec?

I bought myself an 80gb(classic) ipod video. The store told me it allows mov, h264 and mp4 files. However, when i load a regular crossfire movie into my itunes and then try to drag it into my ipod it says "this file is not supported by your ipod". Same happens when i convert it to .mov (h264). I'm either looking for a videoconverter which will convert it into a video which i can actually put on my ipod or a simple guider on i'm looking for some simple trick to get the video's on the ipod. thanks in advance

i actually tried googling, and some video converters but still no succes.. so i was hoping to find someone with a bit of experience, i hope this video converter will work, thanks for your help

download an older version of itunes, the older versions used to convert it for you from avi or whatever, the newer versions don't afaik, but watching vids on your ipod eats your battery!

use xilisoft ipod converter 3 or something, download from a torrent with a key which then allows u to convert full versions of things such as when i converted hancock.avi to the video format for ipod. gd thing about it is that it comes preset with some configs such as good quality image and good/standard sound of quality.
