At first I was like, "ok, quite nice", but then I realized that those pages are just pictures, quite useless to make only layout-scetches imo.

Yes really, atleast if there isn´t anything "special". Those look pretty much the same than every other page-layout, but if they were site-templates ready to fill in content someone would surely be interested about them (cheap).

So what? All clanpages look the same nowadays. And his designs are quite solid and surely much cheaper than the most of the serious business offers.

Of course, it would be better to be able to sell a complete packet, but the coding part is the most expensive, so why not buying a design, if I am able to integrate it by myself. Whatever.. ^^

But if he is asking some money for those layouts, he will get outpriced for someone who can provide readybuild site for little bit more, or even on same price.

Don´t get me wrong, I am not saying that he is bad or those look bad, it is just hard to make money or get anything for plain layout-pics since there is a lot of full solutions which people can use when they need a site.
