depends what you started with. It looks like you had a blue/black gradient think going on and then pasted three pictures over it, which doesn't sound all too tricky.

Good look, i never had the patience for photoshop myself.

I started with nothing. Then made a black background, made a b-ground design.. and pasted the image of the army men..
But this is the first time i started from zero with photoshop, and ye.. it looks amateuristic.. but i'm quite proud of it.. :d

It's a bad advice really, it's quite hard to start out doing that. When you get used to photoshop, you'll see yourself using less filters, and more layers. Use layers and a use clipping masks blabla, you'll find some nice stuff.

Example, get a nice picture, take a new layer, make some spots with a high res soft brush with nice colors, then put the layer to linear dodge, nice stuff. Just one of the many many nice things.
