i have no idea, but for some ppl who have problems with runnning ET or Ventrilo under vista, and they run it as adminstrator, then the probs r fixed

Disabling UAC solves most problems.
ALWAYS :DDDD
why wouldn't you want to run as admin?
because you nearly always need to run as admin. In xp you run all your programs as admin. I think microsoft wants vista to be better protected in using most programs without administrative rights.

But I hate it as well so blame mikroschrot.

An elevated process may take control over a not elevated process, and got more rights.
Some programs even run faster when elevated, while some won't run at all if not elevated.
A good example is ET. PB may require ET to be run as admin, this means a minimizer and ventrilo push to talk won't work unless those programs are also run as administrator.

The basic idea is that you limit the amount of damage a potentially dagerous program may cause if it's not elevated.
And just elevating the processes you really trust.
well i just disabled that auto user contro lthingy... now the problem should be fixed ? and my laptop is a super high risky virus thingy :DD

well the rule is DON'T. if you dont have to to get it too work. like ET. Its a safety feature to prevent viruses and such to get installed on you computer.
Disable UAC -> never have to think about that shit , it just works like xp then

(uac = user account control)

Can be done in several ways , such as at accounts or at msconfig -> windows tools
i see you received the laptop! :D
