Speeding tickets

This guy called "Jari Bär", some former corporate executive, got 112 000€ speeding ticket recently here in Finland

FFS, can´t get the url to work. Copy it http://www.uusisuomi.fi/kotimaa/52268-miljonaarin-jarkyttavat-112-000-euron-ylinopeussakot-%E2%80%9Dsuomi-on-kehitysmaa%E2%80%9D <---Finnish site, couldn´t find in english. But I sum it up.

He was driving 82km/h in a 60-zone. He got 12 "day fines" (1 day fine = 1 days salary according last tax collection). He had the monthly income of 560 000€, so that explains the big fine. He has complained about that, he says that it isn´t correct and his monthly salary was around 3000€ per month, those big moneys were just bonuses and stock incomes. Then the ticket would be only 540€.

Normally you get a 115€ fine for speeding, but if it is 20km/h or more over the limit, it changes to the "day fine"-system. So those 2km costed him quite a lot :)

Kinda stupid system, though it is same for everyone. Have you ever got tickets while driving? I got one parking ticket, but that´s it.

I think it's a good system.

I got 2 tickets so far. One for driving a little to fast (was only like 20 €) and once a parking ticket for 5 € :P

In Germany they don't ask how much you make, the "penalty" is same for everyone. Both system have up- and downsides I guess. If someone is a millionaire 115 € won't bother him much I guess which would kinda allow him to drive faster than poor ppl :P
Basically yes, but I still think there should be some kinda limit, like 10 000€, that should still stop you for driving fast just because you can afford it.

What sickeness me is that the penalty for driving drunk and killing someone is less than driving 22km/h overspeed.

Hmm yea that procedure is also kinda complicated, u gotta find out how much money that certain person makes...

and +1 about the driving drunk shit

"If someone is a millionaire 115 € won't bother him much I guess which would kinda allow him to drive faster than poor ppl :P"

Well not really, considering after a several warnings/tickets you're going to get points on your licence anyway.
Parent
depends on, in germany you only get points if u are certain km/h too fast.

You can drive 20 km/h too fast as long as u want, it's only gonna cost money but never give u points
Parent
Ah. Suppose you're right then.. what a shit system :D
Parent
isnt that only for like the first 5 years you got your license or at least I thought it was like that here :D

vittu sä et tajuu, iha reilu systeemi

so highpayed bitches would actually lose a bit of their money and lowpayed hardworkers wont have to pay 1 months salary to pay the bill
Parent
i got 2 tickets so far, one for driving 17 km/h too fast and one parking ticket^^ 30€ in total
Pff, parking ticket is 35€ here. Or did they just raise it to 40€...
Parent
Here in Turku it's 40€. [FIN] Sain kun unohdin laittaa parkkikiekon. Kävin ~10min päästä laittamassa sen ja siellä iloisesti heilui lappu tuulen mukana pyyhkijöissä.
Parent
parking in the center of amsterdam is 5e an hour.. id rather risk the 40e ticket then lol

i never go to amsterdam by car anyways..

and then i think that when you have to pay that much.. same as in a parking lot btw. they should have at least ~2 guards walking around 24/7 to protect your car against crimes/from thieves

I got the ticket on my old home-street, had just moved there and I didn´t realize there was a fucking parking-timer-thingie (In what you have to inform when you have arrived and set the time on it and place it on your window). Ffs, half-public street.
Parent
dunno if the price is still that low, i think they increased it in january 2009 :p
i hope i wont get too many speeding tickets when my new car arrives @ 23rd march :DDDD

What a fucked up system! I bet this is work of some socialist party...
I wish they would also write tickets to people who drive slow:/ like 50kmh on a road where youre allowed to drive 80 or people that enter the highway with 60kmh instead of 100:/

people who try to get on the highway with 60 instead of 100 are much more dangerous than someone "speeding" 10+km/h on the highway
They can give a ticket for that, for dangering the traffic (dunno the english term), but I guess they rarely do that, at least not here since roads are shit and half of the year driving conditions are total shit.
Parent
Actually, the police pretty often do stop and warn/fine people who drive too slow, since it's a great risk.
Parent
not here.. lol youre allowed to drive 60 on the highway (max 120) here..
absolutely retarded:/

BURN THOSE MADAFAKAS ALIVE
Parent
I once got a ticket for having no lights on my bike :[
They got the same here, but I guess I can outcycle a cop car in city, so np.
Parent
i must pay 310 euro for 19 km/h to fast and 2 bad tyres.. :((
..np4luxembourg
go work you lazy cunt!
or come to icq at least
oh, wait, i'm going to sleep now anyways!
Parent
I got caught driving 141 km/h in a 100km/h region, so I got 20 "day fines" which was 120e for me (minimum fine a day = 6e)
Also lost my card for a month
lol what a crap system
i will get my first tickets when i receive my motorcycle license in a few weeks.. :)
