mousesettings etc

I have never in my life really cared about mousesettings etc, only if the mouse fits my hand and shit, and how it looks.

but I sometimes feel ingame that the mouse can't handle high speeds (and I make fast movements a lot ingame, unlike many other players)

first of all, I've gotten pms and shit by people asking why the hell I got 'smooth mouse' in my cfg, I didn't even know I had this on and that it was bad :D
must've turned it on when I first made my CFG ages ago, is it really that bad and should I change even though I've played with this on for years?

Also, I use an A4Tech X7, mostly because of the shape but according to esrealitys mousescore it's not really that bad anyways, but as I said it doesn't seem to react well when I make fast movements ingame. Could I do something to prevent this from happening or would it be more worth it to switch mouse and get used to that mouse instead? For example deathadder (which is a bit too big for my liking but it seems to be top notch according to http://esreality.hexus.net/?a=longpost&id=1300293&page=2)

I'm currently using A4Tech X7 @ 1600 dpi, 800x600 in ET, 1280x1024 in windows with 75hz.

Another mouse that I've been considering to get is MS 1.1 or 3.0, the size/shape seem to be really nice but I've heard it doesn't perform as well as for example the deathadder.

Give me some of your opinions on which programs/settings are essential to achieve the best possible performance in games and overall, and also your mouse recommendations (btw, i'm not interested in MX513, it's too heavy and the cord is too thick for my liking)

I feel like i'm missing out on stuff, help me out, ty xx

#care it's a good mouse just make sure u use lightnings program to force direct input if you use 1600 dpi
any advantage when using that with a razer copperhead (&drivers)@ 500hz & 1600dpi ? explain pls

and yes I got negative accel atm but I don't care about it cause I usually don't move very fast with my mouse cause my sens is high enough..
Parent

Parent
lolz dan gannek nog beter zijn ofwa :D kzalt dan maar installe e, en gwn tesamen gebruike me men drivers he? werkt da ook op win 7 64bit?
Parent
da weet k nie jom
Parent
tried it, but my sens is like 20x faster, what's this about? oO
Parent
you probably don't have win sens at 6/11 (notch), It ignores the mouse input so therefore ur sens is higher

Second thing , downscaling dpi like that is very stupid and bad for your aim...
Parent
so you think I should stick with 1600?
Parent
stick with what ever floats your boat m8, I play with max dpi and I feel fine so what lettu says 400 is better, I don't care :p ^^
Parent
The quake 3 config responds better at lower dpis.

sens*4

Afaik butchji and many other players use m_filter "1" aswell. I turned it on some time ago and tbh I didn't notice any difference.

You may get some negative acceleration with 1600dpi, thus feeling your mouse can't handle high speeds. Try 400/800.
yeah I can't really feel any difference either when turning it on. I think i've changed to 400/800 dpi before and tried changing my sens to what I had before, but it somehow feels too slow.. guess i'm just so used to 1600 dpi or something.

the thing is that when I for example make a 180 turn really fast my crosshair sometimes ends up in the sky or in the ground, it's pretty random

also I sometimes feel that it's somehow unstable when I move my mouse, but at the same time the crosshair still ends up where I want it to and stops exactly where I want it to so it's not that much of a problem.
Parent
m_filter doesnt work, thats all
Parent
so how it does work mister?
Parent
m_filter is placebo

it skips pixel to make the mouse smoother, but what rarely no one knows is that it only skips 5 pixels on 100 on average, meaning it's useless
Parent
well, my aim feels very different when using m_filter 1 : o
Parent
Bullshit.

"It averaged together the samples collected at the last two frames, which worked out ok if the framerate stayed consistantly high and you were only averaging together one to three samples, [...]" (Carmack, John, 1998)
Parent
yes and everything they make works like it should
Parent
it is not ;-p
Parent
Nuggan i tell you what is the problem with x7.
You have to play with 125hz and this is a handicap. Buy a decent mouse and u1ll be even better like +5-15%

and if you use high dpi u should use rinput.exe
ah, ok, why is 500/1000 hz so much better btw? I barely know anything about these sort of things :P
Parent
signal from mouse is recived more frequently... but its overhyped...
Parent
its not overhyped :D
Parent
1000hz - 1ms
125hz - 8 ms

After you play with 500/1000hz u cant play with that shit 125hz, This is what i noticed
Parent
kk, might consider getting an MS 3.0 or DA then sometime.
Parent
Are you avi for cic7 ?
Parent
nah, well I might go but if i'm going to go there it's only with a swedish team I guess :p
Parent
wont happen alexl in jail :D
Parent
you can get 500/1000hz with the a4tech aswell, you know that? :p You can change it with this http://www.fatal1ty.com/downloads/mouse-tools/hidusbf-zip/start-download and check if it worked with that http://razerblueprints.net/index.php/View-document-details/18-DirectX-mouserate-checker.html
Parent
cool, i'll check it out
Parent
you sure it works btw? won't break it or anything? A4-Tech X718f
Parent
it should work, but you should check it with that mouserate checker. It should give a stable +-500 and +-1000 hz when you move your mouse around fast. Some mice can't handle 1000hz (unstable rate then) but 500 should be np.
Parent
nope it doesnt work... just tried it out :d
Parent
dunno about newer versions of a4tech x7?? but year ago any of those a4tech mouses was not able to reach higher than 125Hz breakpoint no matter what u set in any kind of usbrate switcher.
Parent
nonix im not sure but do you know if the bullets hit the target later with rinput.exe? cuz when i play without rinput my shoots hit more easily :<
im playing with 1800 dpi + rinput.exe and tested 800 dpi without rinput.exe
Parent
then dont use rinput, i dont know much about it, ask abort or someone
Parent
ET doesnt handle high DPI well, making ur crosshair go slower when u are moving ur mouse quickly
k, I should use 400? Any way to convert my current sens from 1600dpi to 400/800dpi? I want to know I get the exact same sens or I will be thinking about that all the time and it will piss me off :D
Parent
1600dpi sensitivity 1

400dpi sensitivity 4

Do the math. :d
Parent
+1

but he has to use lower value now because he used to play with negative accel
Parent
math's not my thing!
Parent
use a calculator :P
Parent
i went from 800dpi @mx518 to 400dpi @ikari and my sens changed from 1.43 to 3.05 (more-less), so u probably will be forced to just four times/double ur sens and then do some small corrections based on how u feel with certain sens
Parent
why would you change your DPI depending on the mouse? : o
Parent
i dont use drivers, mx518 without drivers is 400/800/1600, ikari 400/1600
Parent
I don't use drivers for my MX518 either and am playing with 800 DPI ; )
Parent
i know i was playing like that, but ikari has only 400 or 1600, didnt get the point what u tried to say
Parent
Nothing at all, was just a statement and I understood what you tried to say : )

Personally, I was thinking about getting this mouse to see how it performs in comparison with my MX518 and perhaps even change it to my primary mouse, but the thing you said discouraged me a bit. Are there any other strange things about the IKARI I should be aware of?
Parent
well, i was using mx518 for almost 3 years, i needed week or two to get used to ikari, but its not so different, shape is similar, i can say i like it and dont regret buying it. And there is nothing strange about ikari, optical sensor is working pretty well, its precise without any kind of sings of malfunction and buttons are right there where they should be and are izi to reach (i have small hands, dunno how it is for ppl with bigger hands).
Parent
yeah theres a formula
[(Maximum dpi) x (In-game sensitivity)] / (Minimum dpi) = (New Sensitivity for max dpi)]
Parent
yea if ur bothered by that neg accel, its still there with 800 but not that much
current sens *3 for 800dpi *4 for 400dpi
so every increment of 400 is double the sensitivity
Parent
atm I have sens 2.25 and 1600DPI..

so my sens has to be 2.25/4 OR 2.25/(2^3) if I wanna play with 400DPI ??

(you and slarti are saying different things if I get it right.. he posted a comment abit above, I'm confused :( )
Parent
9

times four not / made a mistake first
Parent
Its easier to calculate
ET sens * DPI

on ur sens
2.25 * 1600 = 3600

3600 / 400 = 9 for 400dpi
3600 / 800 = 4.5 for 800dpi

ofcourse ur windows sens should be in the default middle spot (6 of 11)
Parent
ur math is so wrong :)))
Parent
just plug the mouse in and play!
a mate of mine wants accelfix for windows 7 64bit, anyone has it?
let me know if you know an answer on that question cause I have win7 64bit too :) grtz
Parent
högre sens är det ända som funkar riktigt tbh, spelet klarar inte all input
Nothing beats MX518 and G5 for ET, at least in my opinion.
Too bad I broke my G5 left mouse :O I'm stuck with only my mx518, but there's not much of a difference. Modified Razer drivers to work with it, playing at middle dpi and sensitivity 2.25 @ fov 110 and pitch 0.016, feels smooth. I like it.
have been reading here, so what's best, some programs to use or not?

got windows 7 32bit,
didn't use an accelfix (wants to if needed?)
I'm currently using Logitech G5 @ 800 dpi / sens 8.0, 1280x1024 in ET, 1280x1024 in windows with 75hz.

windows sens is 6/11

some info pls :D
