CIC7 Update

image: ciec

The Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 is now rapidly approaching, on this very date in March teams will have already descended upon Enschede for a feast of gaming action to rival any other! And with that it is time to update one or two points for you:

The Call of Duty 4 tournament is now fully activated with a fantastic volume of signups. Though the complete total payments is not quite verified due to the Christmas Bank Holidays here in the UK it would look like we're headed for a fantastic turnout for this tournament and should hopefully move past at least one triggered prize point! In the coming weeks we will announce details of the seeding tournament for CoD4 - it would be an injustice to seed the tournament without proper veficiation given the nature of transition the community has been through.

The Enemy Teritory tournament has been lagging behind in the signups for a while now and its time that everyone got off their backsides and into gear to signup for ET! Our 4 Crossfire Intel One Day cups were a huge success with around 40 teams signing up each week and with it a fresh breath of air across the ET community. It is now time to convert that interest into signups - so ET Teams please start signing up. With regards to the ET seeding tournament in cooperation with ESL, eiM did update the format of the tournament and we're very open to feedback on how you feel it best be delivered, so keep it coming!

Information on the Quake Live tournament will come next week, expect a nominal (low/small) entrance fee payable on location and it running around the schedule of the other two tournaments. We'll also be doing another poker tournament at the event too, so fear not poker fans!

Remember for all of those queries regarding accomodation they need to go directly to WZZRD as we dont handle accomodation reservations ourselves.

still cool
good luck to get the teams :)

E:
don't hate me offline at cic7

I WARN YOU
GOWAN COD4 YESSS BOYS
Alright, gonna sign up & pay for our beloved team WCTNCTCPI!
Yeah expected more ET signups too, but teams like mamut/bb/dnan/tag/nou/sleeperz etc etc are very likely to come, tho they didn't signup yet, dno why :O
maybe because of the new format 5vs5 which is way less attractive...
Parent
don't agree with you

5v5 is refreshing, I really like playing it and I heard the same thing from quite a lot of players
Parent
dunno tough since im somewhat inactive so didn't give it a real try but was just a supposition since ppl are always affraid of the new things.
Might be faster because there is less spam but hope they didn't bring thoses changes to do like in the other active esports games such as cod or CS
just because ET and its gameplay are absolutely different
Parent
and my best regards for who ever put 3 mines into that config - makes gr much more enjoyable - and you actually have to care for your mines at radar:P
Parent
4 mines* :p
Parent
well ours seems to have 3 and the global5 has 4:P
Parent
than you better change your config :D
Parent
I got fooled by frauwe:'C
Parent
explain why it should be far less attractive to pay for 5 instead of 6...
Parent
was talking about the gameplay itself and not bout money and who is this person who will pay for his players since everyone pay for himself + it will bring less money to the event...
i dont get your point o_O
Parent
my point is that its easier to create a team with 5 players then with 6, and that it will cost less if some mgc wants so sponsor a bit ;)
Parent
it's even easier to create a team with 3 players
Parent
good point
Parent
because spho is to lazy to sign up
Parent
wat een haarbalkut
Parent
you better come or i'll beat you up at lan
Parent
BRING ON THE QUAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will beat you there for sure
Parent
and I you
Parent
I dont care about that, because you need to be motivated the whole tournament to play good in the ET competition
Parent
If you signed up and also registred for the seeding tournament (ET) you would maybe want to query me with the ESL team info to make sure you get your spot reserved. (Some teams have different team-/playernames and thus could be overseen!)
isn't hostin a poker tournament for prizes illegal in the Netherlands?
is there something which is illegal in the Netherlands?
Parent
Things that dont earn the government money are illegal.
Parent
Ye, cheating in ET isnt allowed, if you do that then a boy from Malta will ban you.
Parent
I don't know about NL, but here in Finland it's legal to arrange poker tournaments if all the money goes into the prizepool (so there's no tournament fee / other cut to the organizer) and it isn't for such big money that people could get financially troubled because of it

and atleast all the poker tournaments / rings I've been playing in at crossfire LANs have always fulfilled those two requirements
Parent
Im still not keen on the system being proposed for the seeding tournament. Adacore, Eim and Krosan know my reasons behind it as i dont think teams that wont compete at lan should have an influence on teams seedings. I just hope my suggestions are taken into account. Anyway, im sure there will be vast numbers signing up in the fourthcoming weeks.
yeah, I also think that those teams who aren't going to attend shouldn't be able to have any influence on the seedings. I think that the best option would be to wait until 24th January which is the deadline for ET signups and then run the seeding tournament with those teams that have actually signed up for the LAN and not just for the seeding tournament

optimal situation would of course be if all the signed up teams would've paid the entrace fee aswell to ensure that they're seriously planning to attend and we would only have the actual LAN teams in the tournament. but I guess the deadline for payments will be delayed too much for that as I'd understand that you want to have the seedings ready as early as possible to have more time for all the preparations
Parent
my suggestion was similiar to this with a 2-3 week tourney after signups were confirmed - this also ensured that ppl signed up/confirmed on time to ensure that they got a chance at getting seeded. Any teams that didnt make the confirmation date would be given a bad seed. Alternatively just let the admins and 1 player from each team (who couldnt seed his/her own team) seed the teams - this option would be best imo.
Parent
I can make seedings, np.
Parent
Seeding tournaments are also pretty weak because teams who believe they are certain of group stage domination can tank their seeding down by losing on purpose.

Masculine Mans did it in ESL to not much effect but it could fuck someones shit up.
Parent
True - seeding tournaments like the one proposed are a hindrance/unfair to those teams edging on playoff success. A potentially top 5 team could have a problem on a certain matchday in this seeding tournament too - us for example with toxic's horrific lag etc etc. Leading to a low seeding - which is more unfair to those who could finish 2nd in their group rather than the top teams. An admin seeding would be best choice imo.

DE KOP GAAT ERAF!
Hi,

I started writing this with the intention of telling you a few, maybe worthless, words to cheer you up.

But right now i can't get this smell out of my nose. It's like my kitchen is burning but i don't dare stand up and look because i couldn't handle the situation.

best regards

Malakiiiiii
It worked, thank you sir.

HELL YEA!!!!!! QL
We (nkNn, now angeldust) are planning on going, we just need to figure out how we are going to plan it :P
i want to go to cic7, but i don't know if i can :< i am anyway too low 4 lan, so i wont find a team anyway ;)
Nobody is to low :)
Parent
there are enough lowmed teams coming. loser bracket on cc5 was big fun :)
Parent
well, the main problem is that i don't know if i really have time. i should have time in 99% of the cases, but the 1% :D
Parent
even low- teams are coming!
Parent
i took a couple of days off so I'm coming but I still need a team though
too bad there isn't a 1v1 format, otherwise I would win
we will sign up soonish
Dunno why, but every time I lose at Quake I rage (even on publics), much worse than I had with W:ET :S
talk to snoop
Parent
bad boy :D
Parent
haha hero ;d
Parent
i never rage in ET or CS but in QL my keyboard has gotten some nice beatdowns :D
only in duels though
i feel bad for the pros that play it serious and no longer wonder why they can forfeit games after someone had big lead(but recovery is slightly possible).. its better to calm down for next map :D
Parent
Won't come, so GIRLFIGHT AWARD is for someone else this time!
Any idea what quakelive mappool is gonna look like?
1st place Quake Live is a night with Stuart + hotel room + breakfast.
Fantastic effort from the CoD community so far. I fully expect to hit the 1st, 2nd and 3rd triggers in the coming weeks.
is the QL tournament a professional one or is it accessable for the average noob like me?
it is accessable for the average noob :) It is a Crossfire user competition (iirc). So most of the players will be lowbobs just for fun and someone loses vs United Kingdom Meez in the final
