Popups in Photoshop [beta]
History:
lagg3r brought this to my attention during the time he was working on his movie. He asked me whether I could create a user-friendly popup template in photoshop for him. Looking even further into the past, lagg3r copied the idea from ag0n who had this photoshop template (ag0n used it in ET Moments: http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=movie&mode=download&id=855&url=0) but unfortunatelly he lost it.
That's where I come in. I hope I fairly accomplished to recover this template successfully.
I gave up this project some weeks ago because I tried to create a font file instead which would make everything easier. Nevertheless I came to the conclusion that the icons become quite ugly and it wasn't too easy either.
Adequate for:
Moviemakers who want to create a movie with outstanding popups get the opportunity to edit their popups in different degrees.
Furthermore you should be prepared to invest some time into this since it will be part of your editing.
I guess that only a few will take advantage of this since the majority doesn't know / are too lazy to create their popups in PS.
Lastly, you should have a little experience with PS (not much neccessary though).
My aim:
Was to make the process of creating popups in PS easier by setting up a "popup template".
What's your job?
You will be editing your popups individually which includes the following to do:
> Choose a font, size, colour etc. for your text/popups
> Add/Remove shadows or strokes (can be useful at a light background, e.g. the blue sky at supply)
> Select the weapon icon
> Add/Remove popups depending on how many kills you did in one scene. (e.g. you made 4 kills, then you will obviously have 4 popups)
A screenshot from PS (the bar to the right is essential):
This is how it can look like when the movie 's finished:
(Taken from "sc0ped", 1280x720)
- You will notice that the gun looks strange but that's only because the MP40 layer is on top of the Thompson layer.
Beta:
Until now I haven't added all weapon icons. Besides Im hoping to get some advice to optimize it.
I want to see how big the interest is. Judging upon that I will know if it's worth continuing with the project and if I should make a tutorial.
Take a look at it. I don't expect everyone to understand the system. So do not hesitate to ask.

A black dropshadow on black text is also a great idea.
the regular photoshop user will not need it and for the non photoshop user they will not know what to do with the layers...
a system to convert the console text with the colors stuff (^7 etc..) could be nice
waiting for more... :)

I also laugh at people who go and do that stuff in photoshop cuz they dont know how to code it instead of using your automated program that makes the popups look like shit. haha stupid people have no idea how easy it could be when its automated.
To bring this to an end, it was easy to implement it, with more effort it would have been a nice addition. If id do it nowadays im very sure no one would need photoshop.
And no, i only think you rotate around me :<
2nd, if its that shit, why is it then being used in your so beloved image? They do the exact same thing ...
About decem, he stole it from CS then...
i like how you really try hard to bitch me baby, it just doesnt pay off :<
Just to clearify :)
And yes decem stole from another game called cs and i stole it from him, so what? cookie?

also dont miss out the second question, dear moviemaking professional
Idea is good but you should make something better :/.
it makes things easier. you can change the size, colours etc. so nothing you wrote has any relevans...
your job:
Write a new text
add icon
ETC
If thats what your trying to do, be more specific, if not so just give ur cool font pattern
for example:
the photoshop project must be at the same size as the movie project (default: 1280x720)
Use X or Y text, or take try to find some at www.dafont.com (etc)
use this pack for the icons: (upload the default icons from the pak0.pk3 file, i got some of
my own for artly/strikes ETC if u need it let me know)
when syncing with vegas (im using vegas, dno about the other progs), Set the prewview screen quality to good (full) and then press alt+shift+4, it will show the movie on full screen, and then try to catch the exectly second of the frag, then add the text for 5 seconds, with 1 second fade, 2 seconds for the you killed X font, 15 seconds fade, then when u get the second frag, right click on the text track, press event pan/crop and change the Y Center to -25 (310 -> 285) dont forget to cut the first frag text before changing the Y center at the time you get the second frag
well, i hope its usefull, use it to the next tutorial ull make
and to the icons: i received the white ones from another guy. the icons were also white in et moments, so it was popular as it seems.
tbh I wasnt planing to explain everything in combination with sony vegas. it's a good idea though since I could attract more people to use ps for their popups but its a hell of a job to explain both, although you explained it pretty well in a short relativly short text which i could understand.
You can get the original icons from the ETmain pack -> Pk0.pk3 open it with winrar
Explain what ever you want, you can base on what i said :)
gl
good job though Tites
best popups
Why you post the psd here :<
;_;
