Playing HD gaming movies.

Hello guys,

The reason i'm posting this is because i see alot of people having problems with playing HD footage (720p, 1080p) on there computers. I'm also hoping that more moviemakers will release there movies in HD :).

Almost all gaming movies are released in x264, to play x264 easily you need a couple of programs:
- Media player classic ( Don't use VLC, MPC can do everything what VLC can @ lower proccesing power)
- Coreavc ( Fastest h.264 decoder)
- FFDShow ( for audio decoding )
- Haali media splitter ( For splitting audio and video )
- Update you're Graphic card drivers.
note: In FFDShow you must disable h.264 decoding so that Coreavc can decode it.

I was able to play Unity, Zaigon, Random Spam, Decimated @ 2.0 ghz intel proccesor with 512 mb ram with a nvidia 6600LE.

note: if you still have problems playing the footage, enable "skipp all deblocking" in coreavc. if that still doesn't help try setting you're windows theme on classic. if that stills doesn't help buy a new computer.

or just download K - LITE MEGA CODEC PACK

and in this pack u get Media Player Classic, and all codecs and fucking everything

1st K - Lite mega codec pack doesn't have coreavc.
2nd it's great for super computers but not for slow ones.
3th i still don't recommend it for super computers because of the shitty settings in it. :)

mpc doesn't have so good subtitle options, so I prefer vlc because I watch lots of movies :)

me too but I like it when I see the text written as well, like when watching english movie, I put english subtitles and watching french movie I put french as subtitles... that's good learning imo

use Japanese subtitles on a Chinese movie. Doubles the learning effect imho

well don't worry install Vobsub....give the sub the same name as the file and you have subs in MPC ;)

VLC works fine for me aswell, but for some people with slower PC's the HD-movies lag.

basically it's coreavc that just needs mentioning as that takes most the cpu usage away from playing x264, the audio etc are bleh

No it doesn't,

By splitting audio and video and decoding audio by a better decoder you can reduce proccesing power for 15 %....those 15% can be used by coreavc.

mpc CAN'T do EVERYTHING that VLC can... they are both one of the best of media players... but I would still use VLC... more options! ;)

Well i know you can watch HD-TV with MPC with the help of Nvidia purevideo.
but those are transport streams. I don't know if that's the same with SD.

No Codec Packs Nothing. VLC rocks.

Indeed it's great for slower computers. It's your own choice whatever programs you want to use.
