Remapping keys in Windows

Hello!

This tutorial is about remapping keys on your keyboard.

Why would you want to do that?

• You are using a German keyboard and want to be able to bind the < >| key in ET, but ET doesn’t know them.
• A key is damaged and you want another key to replace it.
• Your keyboard doesn't allow certain keys to be pressed simultaneously.
• yOU WANT TO DISABLE THIS F***ING CAPSLOCK KEY.
• Same goes for the WIN key.
• You want all your keys to behave like the ESC key because you're a complete moron...

Look at the screenshot, it’s so easy to use, I won’t even talk much about it. Click on the key you want to assign a new function to, select the other key from the drop down list and click on apply. It even has a full and half idiot mode.

Notice: A restart is required and the changes are global!



Another program is called

ScancodeMapper

Just right click in the right part of the screen, select “Add mapping” and choose the keys you want to change.



Notice that unless you want two keys fulfil the same function, you need to “crossmap” the keys like in this example:



Drawbacks
Like with KeyTweak changes affect the whole system (be careful with this if you use a password at windows startup :> ) and take effect only after a restart.

All progs work on Vista 64, so you shouldn't have any problems using them on XP ;)
