So our beloved Germany FlyingDJ has posted the 1000th xfire column regarding ET change, and here for the 1001st time I will repeat the problem you face.

If I am Mr. CB Head Admin and I am running Eurocup, why oh why would I want to change ET on the scale people are suggesting? Its a huge gamble and If it backfires I'm finished as an admin, and if it really ends up being that bad I have 4 months of a shambolic cup to finish that may well kill ET off, Rome wasnt built in a day!

The biggest change ET has ever seen was back when Italy Kajab was EC Supervisor. He implemented the large scale XP reductions that changed ET once and for all. Did he do it on his own? Did he think of the idea? No, Kajab had nothing to do with it.
The one and only Netherlands Shakes ran a cup with the new settings to demonstrate how much this would improve ET's gameplay, there was no ETTV back in those days either. He wrote articles, he wrote newsposts and he had shoutcast all to run the Shakes CFG propoganda machine, and look where it got his idea.

The only major change since then was on pronedelay, that has significantly changed gameplay, mines from 7 to 5 have pushed it in the right direction. Other than that, XP from Level 1 to Level 0 has done nothing, that was a change made by an admin looking for a legacy and it failed. The only reason he could make that change without a cup like Shakes' was because it was so small it wouldnt make a difference and he didnt need to put a case forward.

So, you want 5on5? You want something else? Go run a cup, run a credible cup with the neccessary coverage, and make Clanbases job easy. Make it so that if Clanbase does not implement your changes then they are the only cup without it, because Clanbase has a duty to represent the normal gameplay of ET, and if your cup forces Warleagues and other cups to move to whatever new style you want, then CB will have no alternative.

The old saying 'if you want something done, you've got to do it yourself' is as true now as it ever was.

In my opinion, 5on5 would make such a difference to ET's speed that you'd need to then move back to RTCW style ABBA map format, as it is some games are lasting 30 minutes, which is just too short. 5on5, ABBA and shorter map times on some of the longer maps and there you have a new dimension for ET gameplay all be it a much more RTCW orientented style of play.

However, now is the perfect time for change, there are a couple months until the next EC season and the time for change is possible. I will personally volunteer my coverage access on xfire, iTG and gamestv.org to promote a cup that is ran with the credability neccessary to put a viable alternative into CB's lap.
