This weekend is the first major test of the new Serious Gaming lineup, they travel to Gothenburg for Wonderbase and now the world awaits.

They sit on the edge of being the first team to mount a challenge to the hedgemony that has dominated Call of Duty for years, this new best of the rest team have driven a wedge between Dignitas and Speedlink, one which very few could dating all the way back to Eurocup 10.

The question is, was Eurocup 13 a fluke? Did serious(Check 6) really beat Dignitas twice and Speedlink once, or was that all a dream? At Eurocup we saw Ireland Crow and his band of merry men rip through their opponents with a venom that was beautiful. This multinational lineup commanded respect and offers that very few teams have offered.

However, one hit wonders are nothing new in CoD. Remember cZar who made the PlayZ lan look easy? Where did they go, well ironically two of them are in the Serious lineup. Serious cannot be another one hit wonder boy band, they must banish their ghosts and rise to the challenge of Dignitas. They rode the wave of popularity and unexpectation through Eurocup, but they've now stated their intentions and put themselves on a pedestal. And what goes up, must come down.

Dignitas however go into Wonderbase with far less pressure on them. After overcoming Speedlink at the Crossfire Lan they rose to the occasion and proved their worth, additionally they can put Eurocup down to misfortune. Dignitas go into every game expecting to win, and being expected to win, the pressure is not new and defeat and its effects arent either.

Competitive CoD is entering another phase, with TeK-9 winning Milk Lan their gelling period now complete (even if Davy is playing for dM in Sweden) and with Speedlink ever increasingly misfiring its up to Serious and soon TeK-9 to maintain pressure on the Brits at dignitas, and it starts this weekend at Wonderbase. Will serious' second trip to Scandinavia prove as fruitful?

One thing that Dignitas will always offer is a place in the final, whether they win it, who knows however they offer a consistency others constantly fail on. Dignitas have been in all major finals at the events they've attended, they've been a safe bet and value for money, that is success. The strength of a good football team is measured by winning games when they're not playing so well, and same can be said of a good gaming team.

Can Serious match the consistency needed to go the whole nine yards? Early reports from Crow suggest this might be their biggest flaw, sometimes they're firing on all cylinders, others they cannot believe their misfortune. Is it to be TmG at PlayZ all over again or will Serious rise to the challenge and claim back to back titles?

The first tests will come tommorow, as they face two Swedish teams and then Netgamez champions Digitalmind late in the night. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the tournaments goings on.
