Any team that has just lost the first round of the winners bracket is bound to be affected. Not according to xfire favourite Russia humM3L. Speaking straight after their defeat to Europe TLR, humM3L was full of positivity. "No, I really don't care. Come on, its TLR, theres no shame in losing to them". In fact, he revealed how his GMPO team has played TLR before in pracs, and drawn quite a few of these games. "Next time it could be completely different. It depends on maps, belief, and maybe a bit of luck".

Despite having a long gap between now and their next game against high-flying Europe k1ck, humM3L looks relaxed and in a good mood as he tells me the motivation in the team is still at a really high level. "We're going to try no matter what", he says.

The early signs for GMPO have been promising. In the group stages, they wasted no time in demolishing the teams of Netherlands SND, France Muse and Germany GaB, and such a strong start would have done no harm to the team;s ambitions.

I ask what position he is realistically aiming for, and speaks confidently whilst telling me 2nd or 3rd place is within their grasp. Slowly I reel through the list of teams who will surely pose a threat to their credentials, and whilst not denying the risk this level of ET, when you speak of teams like United Kingdom dignitas and Europe SRP the reply you get is one of not just confidence, but impetuosity. The team is eagre to play and prove their point, and nothing, especially not the past two losses which included a defeat at the hands of a rampant Netherlands Kreaturen will play on their minds. As the old footballing cliché goes, they're simply looking forward to the next game, and the possibilities presented after that.

Having not checked the planned schedule, I asked humM3L about his next game and the conversation quickly transformed into the games beyond that. Forget the challenge of Europe k1ck, humM3L wants to face the winner of Italy n1ce vs Belgium cZar, and more than that he wants to play the winner of dignitas and SRP, speaking in a way that confirms their absolute belief in their cause.

You might be thinking, for such high belief, should a fall come in the near future, it would be less a graze and more a shattered pelvis. GMPO, Highbot, call them what you will, they've experienced defeat before on many an occasion, but perhaps the mood is more that this event is theirs. True to form I'm told how in practice, the team frequently plays and matches the top teams: the very same teams that are present at the lan this weekend.

So we've established the team is confident. We also know they have a window upcoming that can allow them to silence the critics and define their form for the second half of the CDC. Until then we have time to spend, and already I've seen the sort of relaxing pranking that you'd certainly associate with the humM3Lrish language and attitude. The eyebrows furrowed and the frown lines formed, as he frantically tried to get the Crossfire page in front of him to load a link. No matter how hard he hit the mouse, and how many clicks he applied to the screen, his journal of choice simply would not load. Only when a nearby Finland decem couldn't contain his laughter anymore did he find out that the page he was trying to load was actually his pc's desktop background. But the man took it in his stride, and was soon roaring with laughter with everyone else.

Elsewhere, decem was also in a good mood, despite being knocked out already. He has had an eventful weekend as well, having broken the first computer he touched, and therefore playing 3 games on a laptop as a result. He's found it hard to play, but overall his weekend has not been about results and stats (including a round of 7 kills and 44 deaths), but having fun and being thankful for being generously sent out here to Enschede. I hope to spend more time with him, and get his opinions on the upcoming games.

GMPO's next game is vs Europe k1ck in the lower bracket 2nd round.
