With less than 24 days to go, The biggest combined prize pool ever to be seen in European Enemy Territory and Call of Duty 2 is about to land in Copenhagen. Its about time for me, Arachon, to lay down the law for shgOpen 2007!

The company hosting the event, shg.dk, is the biggest online danish hardware/software site. The event started out in 2005 hosting a smaller LAN, only with a Counter Strike competition with a reasonable prize pool won by allstars NoA. In 2006 they announced the biggest LAN in Danish history with a mind-boggling prize pool of 500.000 DKK or around 67.000 Euros. This year, the shgOpen moved to the capital of Denmark and will play host not only to Counter Strike 1.6, but Source aswell as more importantly, Enemy Territory and Call of Duty 2.

The point of the movie is not the kids... The point is the buying of people, and the whole network that comes with it.

As I stated before, perhaps some junks on the street can be bought to kill, caise no1 will miss them, but american students and stuff? Maybe 2, maybe 3, but after a while people will start noticing.

Besides you really think people would pay for victims in that type of country when they can easily get their own victims (junks again?)

Well Quentin didn't direct it, Eli Roth did. But they together discovered this Asian "Killer Vacation" website, and got the idea of it. Quentin Tarantino was the executive producer.

I didnt even knew the movie; I copied it from a friend and saw the name of Quentin Tarantino,thats all. (didnt looked who made it or whatever, only knew i saw the name of tarantino somewhere and it is really a typical tarantino movie with all the blood etc.. :))

It is their way of upholding the law, you have to sign a document when you enter the LAN, that states that you do not have any illegal stuff and definitely wont share it.

The reason for this is that some years ago a self-proclaimed upholders of the copyright-laws called "Antipirat-gruppen" busted in at a LAN and started busting people. Somehow they also held the LAN-organizers responsible for this and therefor all bigger Danish LAN's has this sort of rules.
I have not heard of them busting a LAN for ages, it happened back in 2000 and 2001 I think; haven't heard of anything like it since that. The group of anti-pirates still excist though.

Nice guide Arachon. I cant wait what you'll tell us about leisure-time. Too bad it wasnt last year. I lived in the 4 flats you can see from the metro when you stop @ University station.
Dunno for sure yet, but perhaps Ill visit the LAN and see some of my Danish friends again.

btw, something quite disturbing happened to me in copenhagen one summer... see i was walking down some street with lots of pubs on it, and suddenly i see this HUUUUGE woman stripping while dancing, and about 20 men sitting there clapping their hands.

is this a danish leisure of sorts?

Teams are required to register. I'm unsure exactly when the closing date for registrations will be, it'll be some time between Friday 9th Feb and Friday 16th Feb (the starting day of the event), I would guess. Don't take that as gospel though, it may be earlier - my schedules can cope with new teams at any point up to an hour before the starting time, but the event will probably want to close signups before then.

Yes, it's BYOC, computer rental was provided, but they've all been booked now.

My rough schedule for the event:

Thursday: arrive ~12:00, spend afternoon configuring servers; evening free (??)
Friday: wake up ~09:00, test servers and ETTV, get pre-tournament orga generally done; tournament starts at 18:00, finishes ~01:30, sleep.
Saturday: wake up ~09:00, tournament starts at 10:00, finishes at ~00:30, sleep.
Sunday: wake up ~09:00, tournament starts at 10:00, finishes at 15:00; go to airport, flight leaves at 18:00

Hmm.. I've only been there once, the place isn't my cup of tea since I am wayyyy too old for that place imo. I suppose the champagne sucks (just guessing), the beer hmm dunno, its just regular lager i guess. It is drinkable though.
