So here we go again, interviewing the latest LAN-ONLY overboost, remembered for his times during uQ, DMD and now one soldier, who will be competing this weekend at crossfire's very own lan, cpc2. I would also like to add that he is very fond of crossfire flags.
Okay, firstly, i'd like to say good afternoon, how are you, and could you please tell us a little about yourself?
I'm fine, thanks. My name is Edwin, I'm 17 years old and I live in Hoofddorp, Holland, a growing town a few kilometers outside Amsterdam. How are you?
I'm fine thanks. So how did you get into enemy territory, and where do you stand, so to speak, in the game now?
I first started playing this game two weeks after release. I would rampage Fuel Dump publics with my best friend, a famous troll on the Sjappie servers going by the name Snikkel. At some point I was tired of this and started trickjumping for a couple of months with Spectre, Vuurvlieg and ralf-bjarne.
Around september 2004 I was invited to a clan with senn, boZZy and skaFFa and played the Clanbase 3on3 Europe and Benelux
ladder for a while. As time goes on the clan fell apart and skaFFa, Twiz and I started a new clan called eXtreme, known to nobody, we had current top-players like gyzr and mize.
Same thing happened with this clan, I guess it was a lack of effort that made us fall apart. From that moment on I was clanless for a few months, until somehow I got in contact with an SMLigan and Clanbase 3on3-team Nordic Darkness, negotiating about forming a new team with only Gjerry, SioN, AzA and me, and the plan became reality as we soon after started winning some small cups under the name Die Monkey Die, of which no doubt it's safe to say was the top of the 3on3-scene for quite a few months.
Suddenly I got in touch with Mztik from ultimate Quest, which later became one4one, the team I spent my last months of 2005 with.
When we called it a day I got hooked to World of Warcraft until 2007, I still am however, until I heard about an upcoming event, the CPC #2. Ofcourse I wanted to participate and not just to mess around there, but to actually play. So I had to start from the beginning with sereNity, after that team died I was invited to several teams, and my choice after all was reload, sponsored by one.soldier.
So what in particular made you so attracted to cpc2?
Meeting e-thugs and e-friends in the real world, socializing and playing with them. At some point I also want to prove myself that I'm not online only and take part in the trial of being able to perform offline. As much as I whine in-game (especially to you Polish, Spanish and Portuguese readers) there is only one thing to blame, go figure, we'll see at LAN. What made me go in particular is to try and have fun with my teammates from Belgium and not to forget LiciD, as there have been internal problems we will go after all.
Why is it that you chose to participate with one soldier, having been given so many options after serenity?
This was the only team I always had hopes in. I was a big fan of mAx in particular, the tables have turned now, ofcourse, also I already had a slight connection with LiciD back in 2006 with Quash Pain!. To say I rejected some, serious, great offers, I hope all will turn out better than we are expected to.
What are your expectations at lan with one soldier?
In our group, zeroPoint will be our biggest challenge ofcourse, I think that speaks for itself. Now I'm not sure who have more chances between zerobarrier and vigorZ, but if I were to choose, zerobarrier is our biggest rival here. We do have it in us all to make it a winning game for us.
With one soldier having not applied for this season's eurocup and opencup, what will be your plans after the lan?
As of yet I can't release any information about what's gonna happen after CPC. There's several things I can and probably will do, like continue playing World of Warcraft, but only one ET related thing I can't say anything about just yet.
With most of your former clanmates of uQ back, with syK, sqzz and FaTaL playing with #iL.et, Mztik at impact and razz back in the scene, is there no plans for a potential come back?
There were some conversations about that actually, we played some small mixes as Decimated a few months ago, but no, there are no plans concerning this team, so, I'm sorry to break your heart.
Thanks a lot for the interview overboost, i'd just like to end with a few quick questions!
Sweet!
