Over at ClanBase I have interviewed TosspoT. In what was a very interesting interview to do, we talked about his life outside of gaming, Crossfire, QuadV and the upcoming release of QuakeWars.

This is a small snippet of the interview.

QuoteWell this is the first time you have really mentioned QuadV and Crossfire. Could you talk us through the transition period where you went from being a gamer, playing in EuroCups etc, to becoming one of the best current shoutcasters, and owning a very successful community website?

Well, in all honesty I don’t really know how it has all come to be. Shoutcasting just started as favour to a friend and then I kept plugging away at it, enjoying it and I joined iTG. From that point, things suddenly became a lot more serious. I knew that I was apart of a very serious organisation who were going to make a difference to coverage of esports and I started taking it more seriously. I started seeing gaming from a different angel; I wasn’t playing as much and I saw that there was money being made and organisations taking themselves seriously because they wanted to make money.

That inspired me, with iTG and then Crossfire was a situation where I was in 'serious' mode and was sick of the problems on the site, so after being an admin for a long time I decided either I’m going to buy it or I'm going to leave it. I bought it, and I'm very glad I did, it’s opened a lot of doors for me and I feel that along with the other admins we've achieved a great deal. On top of doubling the traffic in 12 months, we've run 2 LANs (about to announce another); we've sent a team to Quakecon, helped administer tournaments and built up some good relations with people.

So the transition was just a mental phase somewhat inspired by my time and experience in iTG, which is something I've taken into QuadV now as I'm looking to help build this new organisation.
