For a very long time I've been trying to have a talk with gyzr, who most view as one of the best Danish Enemy Territory players for a very long time. However, traditionally accompanied with a lot of controversy, he has had his fair share of ups and downs in the game as of late.

I hope you’ll end up enjoying this article.

Advisable is to take a cup of coffee while reading, it might take a while...

Hi gyzr, you've just started playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory again, could you introduce yourself and explain how you started and progressed through competitive gaming?

My name is Marcuz Gabriel "gyzr" Larsen, I'am 20 year's old and I live in Copenhagen. Some of you might have noticed that I have changed my real name, which is private.

When I was 12 years old (2002) I saw my mom's boyfriend playing RTCW and I wanted to play it as well. It started with the single-player mode and it did not take long time before I got addicted. Enemy Territory become my new world, 12 hours a day if not more was my daily life. My first clan was an American clan called klf and I got recruited 5.00 am in the morning on a regular day.

After a while a danish player called Hein contacted me and suddenly I was in a clan called Queens with razz as well. This 3on3 team turned out to be a succes and both razz, hein and me become more "faumous". Hein for hacking and razz and me for the aim.

One day Wesbo and Joop asked me if I want to play with them and I said yes. After this I played EC, NC, and on the Scandinavian Allstar team.
Aiming keeped improveing and new clanmates as: sqzz, mize, toxic, perfo, nonix, melkor and several other known players. When I was in the top of the game I just keeped it there untill I went inactive after CPC2 with KiH due to education. Now i'am back in buisness and trying to become as good as I once were. 24/7 gaming.

When you started gaming did you ever imagine you ending up playing at such a high level? Has much changed since you started gaming competitively?

When I started gaming it was only for fun. When it suddenly became serious it was the addiction of winning and the frags against other players. I wanted to become the best and I still have it the same way with my job. The funny thing is that no.

I never thought that I would be playing at a high lvl with some of the world best ET players and in some players eyes be "one" of them. I never considered myselve as a player like Darkie for an example or anyone else. I just played my game and ending up beating him and playing with him in the Nationcup.

When I play in BiO clanserver I must admit I do not have the same aim as I once did and I have heard rumours that the newschoolers aim is better than the oldschoolers. Then there is the big change that 6on6 has changed to 5on5.
The wierdest thing is to see good players that I don't know the name of suddenly own me. Normally i'am used to highskilled known players who rapes me. But overall it's the same, I still love the gameplay, the "pling, pling" sound and the community.

What is the most memorable moment in your ET career?

There have been severals therefore I will do it from 3-1.

3. Creating my own team called Nordlyset and do 2-2 against the oldschool dignitas team.
2. Joining the Northen Allstars.
1. Sitting at a hotel room in Copenhagen and playing poker with nonix and idle.ee players and to say "hi" to the legendary finish player "mystic" in reallife ;)

You have played with some of the best players to have ever graced ET and RTCW. Who was the best player you have ever played with in a team and why?

Thats a though question after 3 years of inactivity ;) - aimwise: Sqzz, razz, perfo, joop, kris. brainwise: sqzz, razz, rbnt, toxic. Overall: I share the firstplace to razz and sqzz due to their 4 letters in their playing name... Hehe. They can play every class to perfection they have the brain in their gamestyle and proveing that the "brain beats the aim".

Looking at your history you've been often playing with "soon to be banned" players like Hein and razz? Is there any reason for that? Your crossfire profile actually says that you've met with Hein?

There is no explanation for that theese two players was the first thing I remember playing serious gaming with and believe me I have been takeing my bashes and being excused loads of time in my gaming career for hacking and cheating because I played with Hein and Razz.

Its easy to say this on an interview that I have never hacked in my career. There will always be someone who thinks that I hack or have been hacking. The bashes will still come. Also now when i'am back because I don't play as well as I once did. What considers Hein, then yes. I have actully visited the man and the first thing he said was: "gyzr, go play at my computer and prove that you do not hack because I have a felling that you do so".

I smiled, sat down on his chair and started playing. The first thing that came out of his mouth was: "geek..". It was a very quick visit because I had to go to a party in his city later that night. The reason why I have the text about Hein in my profiletext has already been explained.

The most important thing is to have some self-irony and laugh about it when people accuse you for cheating. (If its not true ofc.)

Enemy Territory has a long history and has always had a very loyal following. Do you understand why many tournaments don't include the game or offer very low cash prizes for it?

When I came 4'th at SHG open and won 2000 danish crown's with my team I asked myselve the same question the next morning. Such a low prize reward for players who have payed more for their ticket to Denmark than they have won. I think its because its free to download. But there is no real explanation for why the prizes is so low and to be honest I do not understand it.

Maybe its because the game haven't been promoted as good as CoD or Counter-strike. I'am one big question mark considered to this question. The game Quake4 and fat4lity lives on a singleplayer game. Enemy Territory is a team game and none can live by playing it.

If you were sent into exile on an island full of savages, what kind of weapon from this game would you take along to defend yourself?

I would pick up my mp40, fire alot of bullets and rap my Danish Crown bacon around the end of it and toast it? image: small-smiley-027%5B1%5D
