modem

I've yet to get onto my isp about this one, but:

Randomly, the link light on it goes off (my net gets a bit unstable before this), and obviously my net connection goes down. I've then got to wait for the thing to re-train (eg start up again). Sometimes it goes down every 5 minutes, sometimers every few hours...but obviously is V annoying.

So do old modems (2+ years) tend to go faulty after a while? It's not a virus or anything, this always happens even after formats ;).

Edit: It also sometimes refuses to download information, but upload is fine...
