New Flatscreen

So I have deceided to buy a 40' or 42' flatscreen.

My Question:

Plasma
LCD LED

I have read Plasma still have the best display quality, but I want to mount it to my wall so LED will be closer to the wall and is less heavy.

Any opinions??

Thanks!

plasma dominates pretty much everywhere except weight, price & power consumption.. although rly new & modern lcd's are quite good already.

got a 42" panasonic TX.42P10SE (atleast i think so? :D) and i love it.. and at my fathers house we have a 42" plasma from LG and it is awesome as well.
So brands I can recommend (also from my research back then when I bought my TV): Panasonic & LG
n1 still have old screen :)
You mean a CRT? What the hell, even my granny has a flat screen!

LED ofc.
Way better then LCD,saves money, you ill see what Im talking about.
Plasma is old, dont take it and where the heck did you read that Plasma has the best quality??
Got in home Phillips 8000 series "42" inches LED.Very great TV and very pure control panel.
plasma vs lcd.. i would say that the first 20 hits will tell you that plasma > LCD in most cases. There are some minor things where lcd's are better than plasma e.g. watching movies in bright rooms.. but if you get a decent plasma than that is no problem anymore.

also I have worked at a big electronic store for 6 months and had to take care of the tv section as well. I have seen a lot of lcd's and plasmas and unlike you buy a 1800€ lcd, the plasma will outperform most LCDs.

Same thing that the guy from LG told me/us when he was at the store to promote LG products. Same goes for the Panasonic guy, some goes for the Samsumg promoter.

Plasma goes easily.
Already know 2 people, whos Plasma TV got fucked up for no reason.
We live in 21th century,LED is now!
Parent
they should google a bit about the product then before buying any random noname plasma. Also in terms of durability the plasma is going to win :) .. except the power supply maybe.. but that was a plasma problem ages ago.. not today anymore.

plasma = heat machines (power supply is often broken because of that) , the suck a lot of eletricity, heavy but nice picture

i would go for a led tv
led tv for 3d viewing!!! LED in my opinion is better than plasma.

As far as I know Plasma screens can burn easier, if you leave a static picture on the screen for too long it can actually burn permanently onto it. Anybody else heard this?
myth which is older then the internet !
It needs a very very very very long time until something seriously burns into the plasma.. these days plasmas have technologys to "move" the picture so its not static anymore. If for some reason there still should burn smth in, then you simply let the plasma run ~24 hours with a white or black picture (cant remember) and its all gone.

i have my plasma for 2 years now.. i dont know how many nights i already forgot to turn it off and had a static windows wallpaper (extended screen mode) running... no burning so far :S

My brother has a 52" LCD TV from Samsung, its pretty dam nice, looks good and its pretty dam thin for its size.
Samsung 40" LED is the best. 42" is too big imo, but it depends on the room size.

Wow, people still buy plasma? plasma is very unreliable...
Wait wait wait wait, You get a 40 inch tv then an extra 2 inches becomes too big! I don't see your logic!
40 to 42 you will hardly notice it? Or is there some kind of epic resolution change?
OK thanks every1 for the reactions!

Ill take a last look at the stores and deceide what I want ;)
Here's what I did, I went into a shop and tested which TV I liked the most. Later I went online and bought it off amazon for like 90 euros cheaper than in the shops!
+1 thats the smartest thing u can do as every lcd/plasma will look different anyway.. but when at the shop, ask the seller to let you play yourself with the image settings.. those bastards change the quality of products they want to sell to a much better quality then the rest :P

plasma is so 1980s

Hunter, better get it right cuz next time I want a new tv ur the one I will ask which one to buy xD
