edge lit superslim LED tvs can be annoying. as long as the global illumination is homogeneous -> LED.

look at those new plasma tv's...
they have a maximum power consumption of 350W (42inch panasonic plasma, newest series)
and this only comes when you see a complete white picture.

so, if you want to have the best TV experience, go for plasma (can speak only about panasonic)
