Format advice.

time to format, making some preperations & need some advice.

first of all, OS.. I've been using XP since forever on my stationary computer. Windows 7 or XP? and if I would stick to , 64 or 32bit on win7? So this is the big question ? and should i use Ultimate or normal premium ?

You don't know what you are talking about. It's been known to be the best MS OS ever released, working better than XP at old machines (of course windows 7 requires a little extra memory Ram comparing to XP).

Less crashs/ bsod / better assistance or patchs.. What else? Unless you use linux or mac, your comment is just non sense.

Windows 8 looks nice since you can also just turn the metro interface off, but I kind of like the interface. Looks fresh and clean. and windows 74 32 bit(sinces you only have 2 gig ram, no point in getting 64 bit) home perium or professional is the way to go. My brother had issues with Ultimate

Shit hardware or newb installer, pick one. If your hw isn't damaged and you are installing the best drivers, that cannot happen.

I had my 1st bsod today after 2 years lol....

Win7 is better than XP, in my opinion. As far as 32/64bit since you only have 2GB of RAM there is no benefit to using 64bit, in addition I doubt you use any of the features the higher levels of Win7.

There's 0 benefit to it? The point of 64bit is so it can address more memory

Even if you are right, 64bits is not only suggested to break the 3gb limit. It's related to amount of data calculated. In fact if alexL uses alot of programs that has a 64bit versions, it's highly recommender.

w7 is good btw, no real advantage in getting ultimate, use 64bit, get 1-2gb more ram
remember to backup your firefox bookmarks ;)
about 5 good AVs to choose from, nod32 is gud, microsoft security essentials is free and lightweight too
use chrome or firefox, both good, chrome uses less memory and starts up faster, firefox has a much more advanced version of firebug for webdev though but not
important for you
you won't be able to use some cs5 products like after effects and some other rendering software anymore @ 32bits

I've used Windows 7 for about 2 years and never had any problem with it, all programs run fine once you turn off UAC and I prefer it to xp.
