RAM Memory.

hey guys, im going to install windows 7 32 or 64bits dont know yet.

Atm i got Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 as motherboard with a Intel Core2Duo E6750.

I have TWIN2X2048-6400C4 4-4-4-12 Xtreme 2x1024MB @ 800MHz ( 2gb)

The thing is i just got 2gb more memory, but its not the same speed as the others. This is corsair xms3200 3-3-3-8 2x1024 @ 400mhz.

What will happen if i mix them? will i get better preformance or worse?

And if it dont work and i just use 2gb ram should i install win7 32bits or 64?

And i got all win7 licsense, home premium, Professional and Ultimate

Wich one should i use? is it worth to use ultimate or a waste ? is professional enough since it also has the xp mode.

iirc your ram would both run at 400mhz if you had both in there.

haha oops, but ok so all the 4gb will run @ 400mhz.

Will it be a preformace boost with 4gb @ 400mhz or 2gb @ 800mhz ?

you should not be mixing ram.. there is a chance that u will run into compatibility issues

Mixing ram memory isnt good, i belive it will preform bad, as for win7 go for ultimate :DDDD

32bit can use up to (nearly) 4gb of RAM. absolutely useless to install 64bit if you only have 2gb of RAM.
also seeing that you only have a small core2duo and a quite slow (800hz) ddr2 its time to upgrade your system. yours cant handle any of the new games.

what i have heard from other people that are good on computers, he told me that even if i use 2gb the cpu works better with 64bits if it can handle it!

Well as i wrote little more down, i dont have any reason to update it atm :)

4gb is the cap of a 32bit system not 64bit. use 64bit for 8gb or 16.
also dont buy any new RAM (you should always use the same RAM in all (dual)channels, hence youd have to replace the current one) for this system cause as soon as BF3 is out and you buy a i5/i7 you cant use ddr2 anymore (but have to use ddr3).

1/10 for pretenting there are still people out there playing failures such as QW and Wolf.

you will feel _no_ difference on a 2gb 64bit system with a Intel Core2Duo E6750.
you simply wont. that compared to the "effort" it takes to change over to 64bit clients rather than just istalling/using backups means that its a waste.

if I happen to have the same CPU and just yesterday burned one of my two 1gb DDR2 RAMs along with my windows setup. I now question whether I should go for a 64bit Win 7 rather than the 32bit I used (as I have to reinstall anyway and got all data on backup). I'll buy atleast one 1GB RAM to be back at 2gb but could also simply get 3*1GB as they are cheap as shit.
Is it worth to go for 64bit and is there "any" advantage in matters of programs such as vegas, photoshop or general pcspeed that is worth the ~30€ for more RAM

RAM is especially important for progams such as vegas. i dont like 1gb RAM "bars" and usually take 2x2 dualchannel (32bit) or 4x2/4x4 for 64bit.
by now there are even games out there which utilize more than a 32bit can handle (witcher 2, APBR, ...)

well i was very good 2-3 years ago when i bought it and it was not that very cheap back then. And tbh the computer works great for quake, et,cod2, cod4, quake wars and wolfenstein.

So i dont really feel for wasting money on computer again, when i even rarley play anymore.

rich kid, nah not really kid but yeah i worked alot to earn money

Just use that 2GB@ 800MHz and install windows 7, 32bit version. everythink' ll work well if you play only et/quake games.

note if you get 32 bit .. it will not take up full usage of your ram.. 64 will use the entire ram.. like say u have 3gb ram and 32 bit will only use like 2800mb of ram..

32bit can address ~3.3GB RAM (well I believe that's about what I've seen on machines personally) pretty sure he has less ram than that, he doesn't need 64bit in anyway
