Here is a story that happened to me the last day
Yesterday I did a format and reinstalled windows 7
After booting, the screen was black and nothing worked
I reinstalled it several times with different iso files but it kept giving me a black screen
Then I downloaded linux to fix my shit but it didnt work
Then I downloaded windows xp and installed it
This time it booted without problems but after installing the graphic drivers (with errors), it gave me black screen after booting WTF
So I download several drivers (8.x 9.x 10.x 11.x)
I downloaded 2 new xp install cds and I still got the black screens. Even after several installs
This kept happening untill I thought about my tv/monitor. I switched it from TV to monitor and guess what. The windows homescreen in perfect resolution etc
Why the fuck didnt I think about this earlier
tl;dr did over 10 clean windows installs but fixed my "black" screen by turning on my other monitor

bought a new screen, had a fucking error message, was getting crazy for over an hour, then I found out there was a switch for the inputs. :P
