or you want gaming?
now which gaming :XD new ones or bit old ones

GIVE US MORE INFO
technically it's for uni, but wouldn't mind playing something from time to time or at boring lecture :P not much into old games, ET+COD4+PES

and need bluray!
Parent

anyway, thats good info, now lets wait for someone who understands to help you :~>

Samsung SF311-S01 seems pretty good

When are you going to use it? At school? Just at home?
Because carrying a 15 inch laptop isnt that easy

Personally I would go for a 13 to 14 inch laptop
My advise is to wait for the "ultrabooks" (uberthin, macbook air-like laptops) They will probably be out of your budget but might lower the prices
read up+I don't mind carrying 15 inch, not travelling much with it
Parent
u might want to have a look at the sony e series
one problem, they look stupid

The HP is pretty good already, however some ppl claim that HP's built quality is extremely poor. Same with Acer.

You could look into Asus laptops. I got one myself and so far others also seem to be satisfied with theirs.

Hardware you should look for: Intel i5 2xxx (Sandy Bridge), Geforce GT 540m and enough RAM. That's basically it. Rest is just design/harddrive/battery life etc.

The nvidia cards come with the advantage that they are not used during windows work or other low performance stuff, thus resulting in a longer battery life.

You should be able to get such a setup for 550-650 Euro easily (depending on brand and additional gimmicks)

Edit: Just read that you also need a bluray drive, the Asus K53SV series seems to be perfect. They offer various setups, even with bluray drives.
Me and JyrkZ both got HP laptops, and our HDDs broke down within 2 months... they say HP have improved now, but i am not sure, i'd still go for lenovo, dell or something more reliable :)
Parent
which HP exactly and broke how?
Parent
for some silly reasons my dad refuses to pay for Asus (saying it's shit lol)
Parent
does he even know about computers??
Parent
apparently he does+he has some laptop nerd at work
Parent
sounds like one person has had problems with asus and spreads the words :p
Parent
asus is almost the best brand of laptop actualy.
Parent
If you consider price/performance, probably yes. If you just look at the built quality, it's surely not. But then again the Thinkpads and Macs and others are so much more expensive that it's almost not worth it.
Parent
i was ofc talking about his range of price.
Parent
I have acer, its awesome :P
Parent
Ye well, I can just say what other said already :-P

My mom got an 8 years old Acer as well and it's still running! Pretty amazing :-D
Parent

I bought HP Dv7-2055ew. Wouldn't reccomend it to anyone, it's constantly overheating + it's hard to get to the fan to clean it up. Dunno if it's a problem with HP notebooks or AMD cpus. :s
Parent
Mac book!
I got a macbook pro :)
Parent
no wai! maybe in 2 year ill buy one, now i have different priority
Parent
MSI laptops are amazing. TosspoT even aproves.
