Heyz,

some weeks ago i bought Creative Aurvana Live! phones

already posted this picture but what ever:

image: sjtZN

>put some dynamat inside the cans
>ripped the cables of the driver
>soldered mono 3,5mm female jacks inside the cans
>made 3x 3,5mm jack Y cable to connect source with cans

as you can see in the picture the red cable is a cat5 patchcable ... and its pretty stiff so i bought 4 conductor microphone cable from a german e-shop

image: mLfCF

also bought gold plated 3,5mm jacks as i dont like the black ones i bought at first
>cut of the ends of some blue cotton shoestrings to use them as a cable braid

should i go with the blue fake cable braid or just use the blank black cable and apply some red heatshrink on the jacks and the y split ?

noticed quite late that i bought 4 conductor jacks , fml .... shouldnt always go for the look i guess

i know that top = left , upper middle = right , lower middle = ground , bottom = x

but iam not sure how iam supposed to solder the wires to the black plastic thingy

this is what a normal 3 conductor jack looks like:

so iam confused :a

Stop smoking
kinda offtopic but is that mp3 player any good? thinking of buying one
you cant do anything wrong with them , they are cheap and the SQ is superior to any apple product that i own ... also you can rockbox it easily to get a shitload of EQ settings , plugins and even games ... oh ye and you can use any micro sd to increase your memory

only downside ... the builtquality is rather shit , like the 3,5mm line in is kinda loose

but hey you can play doom on it ! :D

hahahah. nice. gonna order it then :D

edit. yeah and ontopic. i think u should just get a normal 3.5mm stereo plug instead of that one
Parent
i got some here that look equal to the 4 pole jacks but they are a bit smaller and also pretty shit quality wise ....

wish i was a rich kid and could buy some viablues:

but 10euro for a single jack :pPp
Parent
I thought the build quality wasn't too bad actually.
have the clip+ here myself rockboxed : )
Parent
i think u sir, have too much time
well doesnt that apply to anyone who is actually playing games ?
Parent
id say no, playing videogames can be quite entertaining
e. im not dissing or anything, thats a good idea!
Parent
didnt take it as dissing ... ive quite fun modding things :p even more when the result ends with better Soundquality

No need for modding
lols what shit phones, saw a guy wearing red ones today also :<
Parent
why are they shit in your opinion?
Parent
Just don't like the looks/sound (and yes, have tried numerous Dre stuff before *_*)
Parent
You only need a soundprocessor with this to have some decent sound. lower Hz are booster and mid/high Hz are left flat :] gl with your bass
Parent
well, dunno which model these ones actually are (pro, solo, ...?) but its safe to say, its overpriced crap, basically everything made by monster is (heavily) overpriced. Unless you want smth fashionable and you are not expecting it to sound good (good means adequate to its price).
Parent
those are the studio ones. and i do like the sound. but yes, they are expansive

I am talking about that being expensive, I have nothing about expensive headphones (actually just my portable audio equipment without microSD cards is in 400e+ range, and I am planning to get something for home use, Phones+DAC+AMP, for another 750e as soon as I get my pay check), they are just overpriced, unless you care only for looks. For that kind of money you could have gotten much better headphones (Ultrasone Pro900, sennheiser hd25, AT ATH-ESW9 from the top of my head). In fact they are getting beaten by numerous phones that cost like $100 less. But I am not saying they dont sound good (unless you had some really decent headphones before, there will be hearable improvement, but its nothing for audiophiles), they will definatelly sound better than anything below ~$130, but they are losing in battles against similarly priced headphones.
on a side note, I cant wait for my ATH-W1000x to arrive :)

You have a massive thumb!
that not my thumb ... i wouldnt do such messy soldering like he did :ppPppPp
