Unbelievable, not just the house but the girl is pretty amazing too. Gamers getting a sick house for playing/praccing a game all day surrounded by other gamers/friends in the same org/mgc. Most if not all of them are being paid a salary too. Crazy stuff...

EG certainly know how to look after their players :-)

You're acting like they can't do anything else but game. To me this seems more like a big fucking house where you can do what you want without much responsibility. Which is a nice escape from real life for a while until you actually have to do SOMETHING with it.

As far as i know Starcraft is a game, u have to play really a lot to get better. Therefore they are most probably going to spend a lot of time praccing this game. To be honestly next to my "trollingpart" it looks like some of them are real nerds. I mean without knowing them and judging only by their appeareance at least 3 of them are looking exactly like the nerds i used to know.

and yes i was acting like they cant do anything else but game, because my comment wasnt meant too serious. I tried to express the feeling that they are nerds and that they are HAPPY nerds with a pretty cool life. I liked the irony.

My serious opinion is that it doesnt matter how you look like. There are handsome nerds and there are ugly nerds. Just because the media gives us such a picture of a nerd, it doesnt mean it is true. I also have nothing against this starcraft project. It is nothing else than a normal job. They make lots of money with it and the company is investing in them to make more profit. After all you shouldnt take the other comment too serious ;)

I think they actually get paid pretty well for this. So wouldn't necessarily call it an escape from real life. It looks like an actual job to me. I bet some of them are just trying to milk it aslong as it lasts. I know people in other lines of "work" who have done something similar.

Houses like this have existed in Korea for years. Essentially they take kids, make them play Starcraft 14 hours a day and then somehow manage to escape paying them a real wage because they're "playing games" when in reality what they are doing breaks all kind of child labour laws.

The top few make a nice life out of it in the end, but only the top few. Hundreds of kids are thrown into the real world with no real employability skills and no education because they were pretty much forced into playing Starcraft instead of going to school.

Nah, the accounts of people like rekrul, few documentaries and such. Starcraft is fun to watch but at the end of the day lots of kids get exploited for it.

The thing is though that this lifestyle doesn't come out of nowhere. It's not like the ordinary Korean youngster is living a life comparable to us (Euros e.g.). Korean pupils actually studying all day every day (just like progamers play all day every day) resulting in either really successful people with an educational level a lot higher than an average European pupil or for example ... committing suicide. The suicide rates for youngsters in Korea is actually ridiculously high.
