QuoteLooking back at February this year, ArenaNet has confirmed there will be a small closed alpha and beta test for Guild Wars 2 before the end of 2011 but they don't announce a specific date. However, today comes a new rumor that Guild Wars 2 may begin its closed beta test in November.

Should make you smile if you want to play guildwars 2 :D

will probably be the best revolutionary game ever created so far, will be a true art
to earn this, they'd imo need some sort of collusion detection for clothing aswell as foliage and even the possibility to interact with the environment, like burning crops or higher electricity damage in water

but it's imo going to be a good game anyway, agreed

there is interact with the environment, an example is night and day

talking about REAL interaction not one minimalistic gimmic. like they intended to do in...erm... don't remember the gamename anymore, there you could climb halfway down a cliff to ambush oponents and stuff, at least they intended to. also like you can interact in bioshock - burn surfaces or 'shock' those, maybe even build combos out of it. i know it would get pretty complex and hard to balance, but those features would these days make a game REALLY worthy to be called 'epic'

also these days imo there's no need to have arms sticking into surfaces or clothing look like it's glued to your body or stiff like a plank, or have a predefined animation no matter what happens.

in other words it would imo not get around physX or havoc :)

also the graphics still lack real detail concerning foliage (are the crytek guys the only ppl still being able to map real foliage? :D)

first, i believe there are more examples, it's hard for me to follow GW2 news with my life routine currently.
second, what you are talking interferes little to gameplay and more to graphics and feeling, which is only one aspect of a game. what about the complex history? stories? quests? skills? movement, motions, repeat ability? characters and race balancing, and so on...there are just too many elements in a game to point out to one function and call it 'revolutionary once it happens'

ANOTHER NOTE, the GW developers already mentioned their intention is to improve GW's graphics slightly (it not been it's main priority) to allow med-low pc's be able to run the game

didn't mean that alone makes a game a great one, but is for me necessary.

besides it's not only visual aspects of environmental interference, also refering to gameplay, eg. char is soaked when moving through water or there is fire area damage in certain areas and the likes. or like it is in DA, that you do not lose your stealth in certain areas after a single action, but after a second one.

yes those quests stories and the themes definitely are a huge factor, which they outlines fairly well so far in GW2 imo, already in GW1. doubt they really manage to achieve a 'random like' distribution of quests in GW2 or even only for the events, which they doubted themselves already, but still; as i said they're doing good imo, just not exceptionally well

though i'm eager to get to know the skill system there, how well they did with the connected skillsets, depending on certain modes you activate or items you use :)

Releasedate of swtor 22.12.2011 is even more interesting imo ;]
no f* way, besides it's not that long until d3 so no need to get that anyway :)
Parent
Isnt the release date of D3 not like 4. Q 2011 or is there already a real date?
Parent
no real date so far, but since the beta just started it would surprise me if the realase would still take place in 2011
Parent
can't wait
