Journals
In relations to Ag0n's journal, though this series catched my eyes a long time before people started to talk about it, i finally had my time to watch it, but forgot to write a journal about it as i had my opinions.
For me, this series did nothing but disappoint me. Apparently it took around 26 million to shoot and edit only the first episode, with four millions for each episode. I expected a bit of brilliance, something different, catchy, mystery. I was given none.
Even at the start of the premier episode you get a random story of a family who's father gets in jail for a year in a futuristic world, for beating a cop. but it all happened so fast, the writers failed badly in connecting us to the characters. The teenager keeps whining about his father going to jail for a year and destroying the family, while we only felt five minutes of him missing. It was pure rush to get us right into the Jungle. "We don't care about the future world, just wait few more minutes as we had to open the series somehow! Few more minutes and you'll get lot's of shooting and dinoz!" Is how the producers probably reacted. continuing in the episode there was nothing interesting, mostly cliches. How easy it is to get a random girl to meet with the teenager, it's so unbelievably obvious there will be a romantic situation there, it's just pathetic and boring. In Lost you just couldn't understand who Katey is in for, it made you crazy and kept you attracted to find out.
The last thing I expected in the series was a mystery, something to be developed, something....just to get me hooked to the next episode. The only thing I got was Dinozaures killing and raging, with the teens doing stupid things. Happy ending as I expect in every episode in this series, they were saved in the exact last second when the dino was about to butt rape em. Sad writing.
is it impossible to make a new series nowdays? Seriously, Are we stuck with the brilliance of Dexter, True Blood and so on? Countless tries have been made to make the new 'hit' to replace the likes of Lost, Prison break, but none managed to live up to the hype. The Event, FlashForward, Fallen Skies, but niether have managed to catch eyes, with the first two not securing even a second season.

i liked terra nova !
Good review though :)
oh and to "is it impossible to make a new series nowdays?" I think so! You get one every other year that is 'well made' and then its down to individual taste as to whether you think its good, this year we're due one! 2 years ago it was Modern Family, which was brilliant. Actually last year Sherlock from the BBC was good (but only 3 episodes long). Before that... Dexter and BSG
And yes, nothing is as brilliant as Lost. And yes Dexter is the only "brilliant" serie currently, or atleast it used to be ^^
