mobile message question

hey,

i just have sent a message to a friend...now i remember that he is on holidays in switzerland. i have sent the message from germany but without the international dialling code. so my question is: does he gets my message although he is overseas? or is a 0049 infront of the number needed to make sure he gets the message?

I'm pretty sure 0049 is only needed when you're abroad yourself.
Normally he will receive. You will pay an extra, that all
In Estonia you always pay as much as you would pay if someone is in Estonia. Even if the guy receiving the message has a mobile service operator from Australia for example. Still same cost.

Not in France. You pay an extra if you send and if you receive a message from an other country
Parent
WRONG.
I use Emt.Nothing to PAY!

+49 is needed i think, not 100% sure
nein its not.
Parent
should delete this as spam... but i can't.... so cute <3

he will get the message, you don't have to pay extra. you don't always have to remember who is where, only if you're abroad you have to add the +49
and he will pay an extra fee, ofc you wont, cause you cant know if someone is in another country or not.
Last part isn't true about him paying extra, you pay extra if the text is delivered in a different country. At least this is what the Vodafone guy told me 2 months ago when I asked him.
Parent
I doubt that...
Parent
then he has the wrong job :P

If there is an extra fee to be paid you'll have to pay it yourself. Otherwise you could sent your friend abroad 10000 messages and he will get a huge bill.
Parent
nope, cause if you're abroad you can turn your phone off.
you can't be charged for something you can't know about, eg I call my friend who is currently in zimbabwe I will pay the normal national price and he is charged for the rest cause he can decide to answer the call or not or just leave his phone off.
Parent
You're talking about calls now. Your friend can't decline an sms so they can't charge him an extra fee for it either.
Parent
mhmm not really sure about text messages, but he still has the option to turn the phone off so nobody will be charged anything :p
Parent
that makes no sense sorry
Parent
if you sent it he will receive it but he has to do the country code. also your text will cost more LOL!
Afaik it is not needed.

I live near the belgian border and whenever im in belgium or one of my mates is, im just able to send them a text to their normal numbers. Have to same when im on vacation, its np.
Not needed.
He'll recieve the msg since the provider is forwarding it to him (you dont have to remember where everyone in your contact list is atm).
He also wont have to pay for recieving the SMS since you cant decline a sms (other than a call).

Only for sending SMS, calling or recieving a call you have to pay abroad
not needed and i think my comment is superior to you all
so you send messages from germany to switzerland overseas?
