Black & white are not colours, they're right on the end of the spectrum.

Colours are generally considered to be either primary (additive light) or secondary (subtractive light).


If you put all the colours together in the additive system you get white light. That means, by definition that there are no colours.

Subsequently, if you remove all light in the additive system you also have no colours because there is an absence of light.

Although you can class white as a colour, as it is actually all of the colours mixed into 1. Black is an absence of light, so no colour.
