Stephen King

Some time ago we were talking about movies with buddies, and United States of America Stephen King was brought up for some reason. And suddenly we realized that damn, he is behind so many breat movies (novels & short stories etc).

- The Shining
- Children of the Corn
- Stand by Me
- Pet Sematary
- The Shawshank Redemption
- It
And lots of b-horrors.

But then! There was few suprices, at least for me and many others!

- The Green Mile (watched it few times, loved it, just didnt know)
- The Running Man (ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME! Thats a classic, epic movie!)

Are there any familiar ones for you? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000175/
Maybe even suprices?

"The Mist" is no b-horror! :(
Hmm, I think I havent even seen it. And prolly wont, those kinda horrors scare me (I am such a little girl).
Parent
the movie itself is'nt scary at all. i'm no horror fan myself, but i just had to watch it because simply, the idea is incredible and is more of a thriller than horror. and the end, is one of the unique and specials one there to find in a movie. btw i bet it's classed as 'horror' because it's a lil bit disgusting, thats all.
Parent
Watch it, awesome movie!
Parent
fuu, stealing my viewers thomm. !
I made a back-up -plan to yours one :)
Parent
thomm, your so cool.
Parent
Stephen King, that name is not random.
I have a friend whos last name is "Kreivi", meaning image: count-von-count
Parent
big king thomm

we saw three fins today right to viru keskus, one had a beard just like you had, he looked like you but he was a lil fat, like +10 kg

so i come to him and ask, are you thomm from crossfire.nu

he says:

no.
So he was nearly 100kg?
Parent
lol u weight 90 kg wat
Parent
Wasnt shocked... That is a common knowledge if u read any books in this times.
How did you enjoy "Running Man", the book?

EDIT: Have to say, "these times".
Parent
my bad, im still sleepy (or these):P
thats 1 of my fav. And i must say that he was a better writer in the past. For example lets take the whole sage The Dark Tower; first 3-4parts were amaizing but with time and short period beetween publishing the remaining 3 were just much worse ;(
Parent
Havent read more than first 3 parts when I was young, somehow lost the interest to them / to the style & world.
Parent
***spoiler***
Roland Deschain is starting the whole journey form the very beginning :D
Parent
Liked all of the dark towers, but the ending in the last book was pretty awful :/
Parent
i'd choose option b
cause of the fishnet

weapons i could do by myself
I would go for A, enough booze to drink the annoying lesbian good looking and nice + I got a rifle if she gives any problems.
Parent
Y u no have booze + freezer in the same..
Liquor doesnt have to be cold.
Parent
Warm beer is gross.
Parent
Beer is not liquor.

EDIT: Besides, you can dig a hole for the beer, it cools down there if needed.
Parent
I interpreted booze as beer.
Parent
Still tastes alot better
Parent
seriously, you didn't know about green mile before the movie?
No, I did not.
Parent
that's odd, it's one of his best books

also, you probably didn't know fight club and fear & loathing in las vegas were also made by books, godfather as well
Parent
I had no idea. Which of his books did you read? How does it compare to the Dark Tower series which for the biggest part was pretty damn good.
Parent
i haven't actually read many of his books, all i remember is pet semetary, it, green mile, shawshank redemption, children of the corn, christine, ...

edit: just checked the dark tower series, horror and westerns, sounds awesome, guess i know what i'll be reading in the next few months
Parent
It was my favourite-book for a long time when I was younger, should give it a go again.
Parent
"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."

Do it!
Parent
omg, how sad was the end? :-((
Parent
Woah, you finally finished them? Remember you were actually the one recommending them to me. :p
I think the ending is pretty good. Not too cheesy, but a bit negative with a touch of hope as this time it may actually get better for him. A lot of longer series just end like meh.

I'm about to finish "Sometimes a great notion" at the moment. Highly recommended, even though I did not really understand the first quarter of the book at all.
Parent
Finished them last year in March I think. I even told you in a 'book'-journal back then! You're right about the end in other books. Finished Sword of Truth-series by Goodkind after DT and the ending was so ridiculously childish, haha. Just cheapens the whole series.

Bloody hero!
Parent
Oh, my bad then. It's too long ago. :p
Yeah in some series it's really better to skip the last book because it sort of ruins everything.
Parent
From what I've heard the series has got nothing in common with the other books he wrote. It's no horror story. I'd say it's fantasy and pretty good fantasy as well.
Parent
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Tower_(series)

says: Genre Fantasy, horror, western

:/
Parent
Well, a big part of it is western but there's no real horror if I remember correctly. At least it wasn't really scary.
Parent
Well I'm not really scared by horror stories, I'm more fascinated by everything that authors come up with.
Parent
I've read them last year, there's no horror involved. Nor is there actually much fantasy involved, it's more sci-fi meets western, with the emphasis on western.
Parent
In case you've ever read some Lovecraft, is it in any was similar?
Parent
Never read Lovecraft I'm afraid.
Parent
i knew about the green mile.
it truely is an awesome movie but its one of those movies, of which if think they wouldnt be as great without tom hanks... he just fits absolutly perfectly.

btw wasnt there also some movie about "needful things"?
this one is pretty much my favourite book of king.
i can also highly recommend his short novels like e.g. the girl who loved tom gordon.
Yeah, there is one named that. Have seen it when I was a kid, at least the storyline sounds familiar.
Parent
I have read pretty much most of his books, and watched many films made by his books. My personal favorite is Dark tower books. Just read them while ago. Actually I have liked all of his books that I've read.

E. And Tukikohta 1/2, I don't remember the english name.
I'd choose option A!
B or C.

The fishing equipment and the freezer are great and would certainly make surviving a lot easier. The girl would probably be great as well initially, but she would most likely get annoying after a while. Besides, it's another mouth to feed (and she probably wouldn't want to munch on your cock every night).

C is cool because of the dogs and the early escape, but the lack of fishing equipment and means of food-conservation is unfortunate. With vicious animals around me, I probably wouldn't want to get stoned too much and attract attention by playing guitar, but I suppose a little of both every now and then would help in keeping me sane. The knives are nice. In combination with the dogs I'd probably feel pretty safe, even though I would have to miss them after five years.

I think I'd go for B right now.
B has nothing to protect yourself with against vicious animals!
Parent
Hmm, fair point.
Parent
It's not like the dogs couldn't eat the same food you do.
Parent
Hmm, fair point.
Parent
i know.
I love Richard Dawkins :)
Parent
why dont he get a proper chair so he can sit straight??
